Entocort and antihistamines?

Post by Nancy »

Just wondering if taking antihistamines without knowing if you have mast cell issues would be beneficial? I started Entocort last week and it has helped a ton so not really having D problems at the moment. And what kinds of antihistamines do those with MC take? I don't have hayfever type allergies and the dr. did not order that test for mast cell problems when he did my scopes a couple weeks ago but I am now wondering about it as I've just finished Wayne's book.

If Entocort is helping a lot, it's probably not necessary to take an antihistamine right now. If you begin having problems with high-histamine foods once you start to reduce Entocort, then you might consider an antihistamine. But usually problems occur because of additional food intolerances.

entecort and antihistamine

if entecort is helping then why mess with success? histamine issues manifest themselves with severe nausea (and other symptoms) and nausea is relieved only by taking antihistamines...

OK then. I'll not worry about mast cells. Thanks for the replies :)

Entocort also helped me tremendously also. It wasn't until I weaned completely off of it, did I have questions about why I wasn't having normans ( but only going once a day). That's when I tried the antihistamines and found that they helped get me there.
-Remember, if you start to get a bit constipated, that is your signal to reduce the dose.

I had the same experience as Leah. I added the antihistamines after the Entocort when I was much better but still not quite having normans. It made an immediate difference. Kathy

What antihistamine do you take? Do you take it everyday?
