Additional lab work in, asking for T3 meds today

Post by DebE13 »

Does anything strike you as off that I should work on before asking for T3 meds? My GI mentioned my B12 was high and asked if I was taking a supplement. I'm still taking the OTC version of metanx and am wondering if I should possibly stop. I discontinued my iron pills too because they were causing stomach upset.

Good news is my MC is on the same course. Bad news is my MC is on the same course. Haha. Still have D with occasional almost Normans. Taking 3mg entocort about every 4 days. I'm surprised I haven't gone into a flare with what's been going on. So status quo is where it's at and a good thing.

Sorry, just realized how squished all the results look from pasting here. Might be too hard to read. Just got them from my records this morning and was in a mad rush to post them here. Will have to try again later so they're easier to read. Running out the door to work.........

Hi Deb,

Your white cell count is a bit low, but otherwise I don't see any glaring problems with those numbers. The suppressed WBC may be due to antibiotics given during your surgery, and your body just hasn't had time yet to rebuild the numbers. Antihistamines can also suppress the WBC results.

A high B-12 result shouldn't cause any significant problems. I don't understand how your B-12 result could be that high, though. The purging of excess B-12 requires normal kidney function, but there's nothing in your results to suggest that you don't have normal kidney function. I've been taking Metanx for over 4 years and my B-12 is only roughly half that amount (still within the normal range, though at the top of the range). I wonder if compromised thyroid function might have something to do with that elevated B-12 result.
