3 mg Entocort Every Other Day vs 1.5 mg Entocort Daily ??

Post by DJ »

I am seeing that many people are reducing to Entocort 3 mg every other day as part of a careful weaning process. Would it be better to buy empty gelatin capsules and divide the Entocort 3mg capsule into half doses resulting in Entocort 1.5 mg capsules?

I'm not aware of anyone who has actually done that, but theoretically, that should work fine, because it's not the capsule that has the enteric coating that controls the delayed activation, (the granules themselves are coated). They do not begin to activate until they reach the duodenum, where the pH will be increased to 5.5 or higher, so that by the time the budesonide actually becomes available, it should be in the terminal ileum or the colon.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex, Thank you. That is good to know. I'm thinking that a daily dose might be better for me. I'm not quite ready for that step but I'm planning ahead :bear:

I just bought 250 empty gelatin capsules for $3.49, 3 bottles of 2000 iu vitamin D tablets* (60 count) for $1.99 (for all three), and calcium with vitamin D and magnesium from a company that carries several GF, DF, SF supplements. Plus, I found a code for free shipping.
It's Puritain's Pride.

* Note that the vitamin D is in tablet form and is not the vitamin D in a soybean oil Softgel (which this company also carries and is more widely advertised)
