OK--SERIOUS--I NEED SOME ANSWERS!!!

Post by barbaranoela »

Yes, Tai Chi was fine---came home and was SORE----

But today---upon waking and rising--I am in agony!!! Body aching and sore something terrible!!!

I assume it is due to the body not being up to PAR as I thought but this is ridiculous-

Question---anybody start Tai-Chi and feel like a herd of horses ran over ya????

And should a NEWBEE attempt all thes moves when one hasnt had a preview to the moves????

Miserable and SORE
Barbara---and not very happy about this!!!

THANKS

A few years ago I was checking out a gym and weight loss program. During the orientation (sales pitch) they put me through about 15 minutes of a sample of the exercises. I couldn't move for a week or better after. My daughter says "Mom......didn't they have you do any warm up exercises first?"

We duh.......NO!! She was in dance class at the time and said that is the first thing they should have done, warm ups and stretching exercises.

Take a few more warm baths and take it easy at the next class!

Love ya,
Mars

Hi Barb. I did a bit of Tai Chi years ago & it did not bother me. Don't know how I would go now. I was a lot fitter & more supple then. Even though it is a fairly gentle sort of excersise you probably should have had some sort of warm up. Brisk walk to warm up the body followed by stretching to prepare your muscles for what you are about to do is the order of the day. Even if you are in pretty good shape physically you would be using muscles that you have not been using & probably in a different way. Gentle stretching both before & after excersise also helps to prevent soreness. (this is the coach speaking)

I would be giving the Yoga a bit of a miss until you feel less sore. Try Epsom Salts in your bath. I do that when I am sore from fibromyalgia or whatever.

Barb, I remember when I was very young, I played my very first round of golf. Since I was in such good shape and did other more difficult sports fairly regularly, I wondered why hitting a ball around the course had made me THIS sore.

Welp, found out soon, cause temp went up to 102 degrees! I had the big, bad flu! Hahaha!

Anyway, now you just need to get right back in there, and work out that soreness, ya hear!!

Yours, Luce

Hi there Barb,

I have an opinion. I think when you do an activity that's new to you, and you're nervous about not doing it correctly, your muscles are tense, and after you get sorer than you would otherwise.

Anyway, I hope you keep doing it, it sounds like a blast.
