Hey! Now we're cookin'.

That site appears to be right on target. Thanks.

Dr. Castells knows her stuff. The problem with most doctors in general is that they put way too much emphasis on intricately-designed (and therefore extremely limited) controlled studies, and not near enough emphasis on evidence-based data. By doing so they severely limit their capabilities, because they are unable to incorporate the latest innovations in a timely manner.

Data resulting from controlled studies are typically outdated by at least 15 or 20 years by the time they are published. Most professionals in any other discipline could not effectively compete by relying on such primitive methods. That's one of the reasons why medical professionals are paid whether they actually benefit the patient or not. No other industry allows that practice, either.

Thanks for posting this, Linda! I had not heard of this gal. I believe there is a mast cell component to my MC, but it's been overwhelming to me to add yet another hoop to jump through so I've just been avoiding high-histamine foods and taking Allegra.

A couple of quotes stuck out to me:
...my symptoms didn’t really resolve on the standard low histamine diet. (They got better at first but soon with each food I eliminated from my diet I grew sicker and sicker.)
and
Have a niggling suspicion that losing all those high nutrient foods could be counter productive? Starting to worry that your five “safe foods” might turn on you one day?
Yes and yes! What I really like is how she doesn't just deal with her illness, she attacks it! I really have hope now that I will get a handle on this horrible flare I've been in for close to three weeks.

I was doing better Wednesday evening and yesterday morning, then I ate plantain chips from Trader Joe's. They are one of the things I grab when I am on my way out the door and will need something with me to eat later. I was very sorry I ate them, and still am. Maybe that's why that "five safe foods" quote stuck out to me so much.

I don't really want to deal with this, but at least now I have resources to do so. Thanks again!!
