Proof that you can get your life back- health and stamina.

Post by carolm »

Proof that you can get your life back..... and then do something semi-stupid and feel fine the next day (a little tired but okay)....

This is my husband and I at the Kansas State/ OU game yesterday. It was 25 degrees at game time and 29 degrees when the game was over. We were so bundled up I thought we'd have to run the air conditioner in the car on the way to the game. Thank God for the furry hood on my coat. I decided I was going to pull it tight until I resembled Kenny on South Park. My hand and foot warmers gave up after the 3rd quarter. I questioned our intelligence when I went to stand up and found our lap blankets had frozen to the bleachers. What were we thinking? In spite of all that, we had fun.

I realized on the way home that 6 months ago I would not have been able to do this. Even if my gut was okay I would not have had the stamina to make the trip, let alone endure the elements. I am truly grateful.

Hi Carol, That is great news. They would have to pay me to attend a game with the temperature below seventy. My son is going to Sunday Night game. The temperature in the teens with a zero wind chill factor and snow flurries. A heated suite would be the only way I would attend. But that is not in my budget. Jon

Thanks to you both for your comments. Jon, I'm with you on the heated suite. When you buy tickets for a November game in Kansas, you don't know what you'll get into. I figured it would be about 40-50 degrees, like it is the rest of this week will be. I would not want to go to a colder game. But we did it, had fun with it, laughed about my husband's Pepsi which was solid in about an hour. It's always a fun time at K State even when the weather is not ideal.

Oh my God, you look freezing….. but happy :)
It's been so nice and beautiful here. We went walking through Golden Gate Park yesterday and it must have been about 68 degrees. I love San Francisco .

HI Leah, it was 60 degrees here last weekend, but of course that wasn't the weekend game we had tickets for!!!! Then a cold front came through on Thursday.
Ahhhhhh-- Kansas.

How awesome that you were able to go and enjoy yourselves!! I would love to see a New England Patriots game @ Gillette stadium but given the fluctuations in the weather in the Northeast, I haven't yet made the leap. Yesterday it was around 5 degrees here with the windchill and it was probably below 0 last night so it would've been brutal in the stadium. I would have to bundle up so much, I couldn't walk, I fear!! Glad to hear you're doing so well!

That's a cute picture of you both. You are right 6 months ago could you imagine trying to sit through a game or line up for a toilet or have to shed all those layers to go potty? Enjoy this life it's the only one we get!

Carol,

It's been terribly cold here in PA this week. The dog doesn't even want to walk when it's 19 degrees! You are a brave woman!

Bless you for picking up our spirits!

Thanks for the picture of your relaxed and smiling face. There is hope and you're proof. My oldest son and his family and I are celebrating Thanksgiving with a week in the Blue Ridge Mountains in N.C. It's been unseasonably cold, freezing rain today and snow tomorrow. The kids, Florida born, can't wait for the snow.

Last year I would have been terrified to spend so many hours in a car and then live in close contact with other people for a week. Without all of the Potty People and Tex, I probably wouldn't be here. Thank you all and Happy Thanksgiving.

Carol,

Good to see your smiling face in that freezing cold and mostly to hear that you feel good! Keep it up!
