Claratin Update

Post by DJ »

I started a trial of Claritin several weeks ago and it seems to be helping some of my gut problems to a degree. As mentioned in the past, I have a history of many years of extreme GERD with coughing and burping (like a very pitiful cartoon character, not like a human). I cough to the point of gasping, gagging, and on rare occasion, vomiting. When I burp, it relieves the coughing. I also bring up very white stuff that, according to an ENT who examined my vocal cords, is from my gut and has singed my vocal cords. I have been tested twice for seasonal allergies and I don't have them. I do not have a post-nasal drip.
I believe that I have the same issue in my small intestine, stomach and esophagus that I have in my large intestine. Claratin seems to help the coughing and gagging to a degree. Between the complete elimination of my “offenders” and Claritin, the coughing and burping have become much more livable.
My bathroom activity is also going fairly well with 3 mg of Entocort and a very careful diet.

PS If this is a double post, sorry. I tried to post earlier and it seems that id didn't go through.

That's encouraging. I hope you continue to improve.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I'm glad the Claritin and diet are helping. It's been uplifting to read about your progress.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
