I was reading your book reviews to see what people were saying about the book and had to smile when I read this:
My doctor is not convinced that gluten is a problem for all individuals with the condition as Dr. Persky says. My doctor advised me to avoid dairy products. But for an individual who is new to the condition, this is a good handbook. Just don't use it to diagnose yourself if you have a problem. See a gastroenterologist.
Once again you must reiterate that you are NOT a doctor. This review tickled me and made me smile! You are better than a doctor in my book!

Unfortunately, I have no control over those reviews. Yes, I pointed out in the introduction that I am not a medical professional, but maybe that individual does not consider doctors to be medical professionals. Or maybe she just didn't believe me, just as she didn't believe what I wrote about gluten sensitivity.
Most likely she just didn't bother to read the introduction, and didn't bother to read the "About the Author" page either, since it does not list a medical degree anywhere. It makes one wonder how much of the rest of the book she read before deciding that she preferred her doctor's views on gluten over mine.

The assumption that doctors always know what they are talking about can be very detrimental to one's health. Life is simplified if you abdicate responsibility to the "experts" but sometimes that simplicity comes with a high price tag, like continuing ill health when you simply follow doctor's orders.
