Hi Marie,

Are you by any chance taking a statin? Statins can can cause a serious disorder known as rhabdomyolysis, and one of the symptoms is muscle weakness.

Marie,
How are you doing? Proximal muscle weakness affecting the upper thighs, hips and shoulders is the primary symptom of Myositis. There are several forms - Polymyositis, Dermatomyositis, Inclusion Body Myositis, etc. Trouble with stairs and getting up from a seated position are the classic presentation. Dry mouth may be a symptom of an autoimmune flare too (Sjogren's Syndrome). Many people with myositis report dry mouth and dry eyes. You should really see a doctor ASAP to get answers, because if you have a form of myositis, treatment should be started early to stop the muscle inflammation.

Steroids can also cause muscle atrophy. I noticed mild weakness in my thighs when I was on 40 mgs prendisone, but your dose of Entocort is probably too low to cause those issues. Please see a doc as soon as you are able if your symptoms are continuing.

Marie,

Maybe you are dehydrated. Are you drinking plenty of water?

Merry Christmas to you too, and I hope that the New Year brings you better health and happiness.
