herbal teas for nausea and flu-like body aches

Post by JenniferS »

I'd love to know the science behind this, but I often get flu-like body aches. (Either that, or I often get the flu. ;) ) I'm sure it's something I'm eating. Anyway, I've found drinking ginger and chamomile with lavender tea helps. I put both tea bags in my mug. Maybe it's a placebo affect, but hey, I'll take it. :)

okay, did my own google search. ;) Not sure how accurate or credible the sits I went to were, but chamomile and ginger are said to be anti-inflammatory. They are also said to heal ulcers, which I found interesting, and to be antispasmodic, to help reduce pain, etc. Hm... *gets up to make another cup.*

I used to use raw ginger juice as a cure for GERD, it was actually very effective. Walt Stoll (now deceased) talked about it on his website.

According to my blood allergy test (yes, grain of salt) I'm now allergic to ginger. I have a theory that my body, while in the throes of MC, reacted to the things I'd ingested the most over the years.

I was constantly chewing on ginger, drinking ginger tea, etc. It did help with the GERD which I believe in my case was due to inflammation. Probably caused by gluten intolerance.

When I really have the *flu*, boneset tea is the best remedy I know of. It relieves the fever, the bone aches, all of it.
