Hemrrhoids?
I have a question I really need advice on. Currently, I have no insurance and will have it starting January 1st. But, I'm a little worried about something that's started happening recently and I want to make sure this is not something big. Also, no I have not been diagnosed yet, but I'm part of three groups online, this one, a Crohn's one, and also a Celiac one, because I don't know which I have, if any one, yet.
I posted a question on a Celiac facebook group page and this was the question:
I have a question. Can a hemorrhoid feel like it's further up your anus? For the last week or so, I've had to wake up in where I guess I ate too much the day before, and I can't go back to sleep due to this discomfort in my butt. It's like not around my anus, but feels like its up further a little. When I go the bathroom to poo it usually goes away. I think it's probably because lately I've been sitting in my desk chair, which is pretty hard, and over time I think I'm managed to get a hemorrhoid. However, I have no bleeding at all. I was a little worried about cancer, but IDK. It's only been going on a week now, and without bleeding or pain, just a dull discomfort. Anyone else get this?
Most responses were that yea it could be an internal hemrrhoid, but then another one scared me and said her she lost her husband to what he thought was a hemrroid over a period of time and didn't get it checked out until it was too late. I know most of you won't tell me it's not that bad, but based on what you know of me and my symptoms, should I be at least going to the E.R. until I can get in to see my doctor? I'm just really worried. Also, the pain, though I would barely associate it with pain, it's more like a dull discomfort that gets more of an issue the more I sit. Any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The odds strongly favor hemorrhoids, especially for someone who has the symptoms of an IBD. Even if it should turn out to be a malignancy, waiting 1 month is not likely to make a life-or-death difference. Waiting 1 year certainly could.

I've had them for over two years- they've never gone away. Most recently the external ones have gone away so I'm attributing it to my diet. I also have internal ones and have felt what you are describing. Most of the time, thank goodness, they are just there. Sometime they can get a bit angry and cause a lot of discomfort.
I've had them so bad in the past that I could barely walk. I had one lanced once and would NEVER do that again. It's always good to get it checked out to be safe and have a little piece of mind.

I'm not sure if I fully understand what you're saying, but I've had hemorrhoids and stabbing pains in and around that area. I take hyoscyamine, which is an antispasmodic, and it helps a great deal. Also, for me, the full dose of budesonide stopped my hemorrhoid bleeding and has led to what I believe to be full healing. But when I tried to taper (last summer), the bleeding came back daily when I went from 9mg of budesonide to 6mg. A week after going back on the full dose, the bleeding stoppped and hasn't returned since.
The budesonide is expensive w/o insurance, but the hyoscyamine might be reasonable.

I've not noticed mine being better or worse with or without entocort. I've been tapering for a long time and have to bump up my dose at times. I don't have bleeding which is why I don't worry much about them. I get the occasional bright red spots but it's very infrequent.
Entocort is ridiculously expensive and I'm fortunate to have very good RX coverage so I'm able to stay on it without having to get a second job. I'm not familiar with any other drugs so I have no opinions to offer. With regular bleeding I would get it checked out for some piece of mind.

Ok I think I also got hemmorhoids. I'm starting to get that itchy feeling. I dont have bleeding but discomfort and it seems to be internal and external, what would be the best thing to do for it?
Is it ok to sit? exercise? Eat small meals or eat a lot?
What did you guys found the best way to treat it without meds?

You can get the donut pillow to sit on, it relieves pressure. Witch hazel pads can help and wash the area after a BM.
I would be surprised if we (MC'ers) all didn't have them. I got my first (and so far only) as a kid and had it removed about 8 years ago. I was lucky to be able to do a quick in office procedure.

Sorry, I don't have any good suggestions aside from the witch hazel. It doesn't do much for me really but I like the antiseptic qualities. Creams also weren't effective for me and just made everything feel goopy. I may be in the minority so it's always worth a try.

'roids are associated both with C (because of the physical irritation) and with frequent watery D (because of the chemical irritation), and Nancy is quite correct that the problem is very commonly associated with IBDs. When I had a problem with bleeding, many years ago, a GI doc prescribed Anusol-HC (hydrocortisone acetate) suppositories, and they were effective.
He told me at the followup to the sigmoidoscopy exam that I might as well schedule surgery to correct the problem, because it could only get worse. Since I wasn't born yesterday, I didn't fall for that, and it turns out that the surgery would have been totally unnecessary. C was the apparent problem, and I resolved it by eating a big bag of microwave popcorn every night (IOW, by adding fiber to my diet). But this was over 30 years ago — at least 15 or 20 years before my gluten sensitivity symptoms began to swarm on me.

I got my first hemorrhoid delivering my second child. When I went to the ER, they lanced it and I felt instant relief. I've had many external ones since then, and they no longer lance them, due to potential complications from infection. I just have to wait for them to shrink on their own. I've tried alcohol and Preparation H, which help, but there isn't much else to do for them, in my experience.
After my first colonoscopy, the doctor said I had too many hemorrhoids. I'm not sure what he wanted me to do about that. I've always figured that I have them because I have weak veins. I also bruise easily. I got a huge one in Brazil because I sat on the toilet too long after eating in a Brazilian steakhouse. I spent the rest of my trip in pain from it, but it went away, as the external ones always do. I don't think I've ever had an internal one.
A friend of mine had surgery a couple of years ago for her hemorrhoid and was off work for weeks. It took several weeks for the pain and bleeding to stop; maybe even a couple of months. I was incredulous and decided that I would never have surgery for them.
