So, what exactly should I ask my doctor to check for? I'm afraid I've heard so much to tell my doctor over different forums that I'm kind of overwhelmed with the idea that my dr. will just ask me to be quiet lol

Back to the poop shape; I can have little round balls, skinny poops and normals all in one day - sometimes all in one movement. Try not to worry too much about it (like I did). Maybe the different shapes are normal but we who have had D for so long don't know what normal is anymore.

Hi Gabes, Do you have any research about your statement. " Inflammation anywhere in the body is a toxin"? Jon

Jon
check out 'Team Doctors' in Chicago.
Unfortunately i can not post a link at the moment

there are also quite a few published articles about inflammation and depression, inflammation and Cholesterol/heart disease etc
Over the last couple of years Tex has posted links of them, a search on this forum will reveal some of those

Go into Google, click the 'news' option and then do word search on inflammation ??

here is the search result for inflammation depression

Babes Ryan...your post caught my eye when you said allergen symptoms also include "BP/heart Rate symptoms....." I left the thread & re-read the info on mast cells on the home page. I didn't remember reading that before. I have had sudden heart rate increases since before Thanksgiving...seemingly out of the blue...
If it were mast cell issue, would it have showed up during my 4 months of Cdiff? I read that that Cdiff can trigger mast cells... I have not had any gut symptoms for about 2 weeks; instead it's the heart rate going into 115 range when walking through the house that is my new symptom. I had not even considered this as a mast cell issue. Doc thinks it's stress & wants me to take Celexa....for anxiety & depression. I read about the impact of stress on mast cells also. And pre-thanksgiving was an extremely stressful time with family visiting. So am I jumping to conclusions here?
Hope I haven't broken protocol by inserting my issues here?

Sunny, i am sure the others wont mind, as it does have context the original query..
and continuing the discussion may help those that are new to the Mast Cell/Histamine element.

I too was on this board for almost 2 years, and saw many posts on mast cell/histamine and i didnt grasp it.
Only when i started having the BP/heart rate issues after a few doses of anesthetic, and other treatments for an infected moler removal, and Joe pulled together the research and suggested to me i was having Mast Cell/histamine issue
until then I didnt connect the dots...

that is why I do suggest and encourage that people read the mast cell/histamine section, and have some awareness.
during my time on this forum, I would estimate that 60-70% of people have some sort of histamine/mast cell issue at some stage of their MC journey..
(that is why tex set up a separate section so we could put the key info and key articles in one place.)

H1 and H2 blockers are over the counter medications....
Like MC is not that well known by most medical practitioners, even less known about Mast Cells, and most will not acknowledge the cycle of Mast cells/histamine - inflammation - gut issues....
those of us that have lived with it totally acknowledge the cycle!!

Soilsspirit and Sunny - in context that doctors will acknowledge mast cell/histamine and impact of symptoms may not be that easy. (keep in mind there is a limited acceptance of diet for management of IBD's)
as the meds are over the counter, not overly expensive - give it a try...

optimising wellness and minimising symptoms is best achieved by 'informed self management'
you dont have to seek approval from the Doctor for everything you do. Thanks to the wealth of information on this forum, and the supportive knowledgeable people always willing to help, you can manage your MC journey...

hope this helps

About this heart rate abnormality, does this have anything to do with mast cells? I had an E.R. doctor tell me one time when I had heart palpitations due to a fever that I probably have something called PVC, I think it's called this anyway.

If you read my reply to you yesterday (back on page 1 of this discussion)
Symptoms can vary – depending on the histamine triggered (H1, H2, H3, H4) there is a chart that links the symptoms to the Hx

The basic type allergen symptoms
- increased mucus, (nose, cough)
- sneezing
- hives/rash
- asthma

Then up to BP / heart rate symptoms / affect hormones etc
Highly recommended when you have some spare time, with a clear relaxed mind, read the section on mast cells

From the Mast Cell section in this forum

http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/85/5/1185.full

this article, page 2 - has all the likely mast cell/histamine symptoms and tells you if it is H1, H2, H3, H4
you dont have to read or understand the article...the diagram at the top of page 2 is the gold piece of info and easy way to determine if Mast Cell/Histamine is an issue for you

Gabes Ryan... That link for post in the forum is the one I read last night and started me thinking of heart in relation to Histamines. I re-read it tonight. Very helpful to read again & find items I missed first & second time around.
The second link I also read when posted in November and then subscribed to the blog. At that time, I wasn't experiencing tachycardia so glossed right over it! I really need to read & re-read these articles to absorb the information!
I tried taking Zyrtec or Allerest back then, but didn't see a difference so kind of just forgot it.
Decided to take it for a week at least & see if I notice a difference in heart rate. Perhaps the impact won't be directly seen, but curios now.
Thanks so much for posting additional links like this.

Solis spirit....PVC's are premature ventricular beats....it feels like your heart is skipping a beat....doctors say they are harmless, but for some people, it can feel disturbing.

Sunny
the reason that the Allegra /Zyrtec may not help is that Tachycardia/Bp issues are linked to H2, H3
Allegra/Zyrtec treat H1.

there are four types of Histamine reactions in the body.

In amongst the mast cell info, there is an article and within the article is a chart that shows ALL the symptoms, and identifies what H number that symptom is linked to

its ok, it takes some time to grasp - (and we thought MC was confusing enough!)
