No Bleeding

Post by solisspirit »

This has made me curious over the time I've been on various forums. I'm curious if any of you can shed light on it. For years, I've had "D" and over the recent two to three years I've had malabsorption, specifically fat malabsorption. Recently, however, I posted something on hemrhoids and noticed some talk about bleeding. Almost every forum I've been on there have been people talk about bleeding, whether it be from hemrhoids or from UC, or from CD. Not once have I had an issue with bleeding, save for the very few times I think I had some on toilet paper that I'm pretty sure was from hemrhoids. I don't have black stools ever. I don't have bright blood in my poop. And, I'm just curious, I know it's possible to have blood in your stool without being able to see it, like microscopic, but this has bothered me for some time and I'm just curious what all this means.

I think that's a good sign. I had bleeding at the beginning I am sure it wasn't hemorrhoids because the colonoscopy came out clear for that. However I think I have developed a bunch of ailments to the colon after constipation including hemmorhoids, no bleeding now either.

Sollisspirit, I agree with nsaidcolitis. :) If it ain't broke, celebrate! I had bleeding a lot in the beginning, and it took a year for that to stop. I'm 85% sure it was hemorrhoids, and due to inflammation. Then, the bleeding stopped and I tried to taper the budesonide. When I went from 9mg to 6mg, the bleeding returned. (It will also return if I eat a problem food.)

I am beginning to learn a pattern. Well, I'm trying to learn a pattern. But when I encounter a problem food or maybe problem environmental agent, I can respond one of two ways: intestinal pain of varying severity, or insane burning in all of the mucus membrane areas. If I continue to ingest or come into contact with whatever I'm reacting to, in about three days, the bleeding returns. BUT I also have insane vericose veins, and have since an early age. (and hemorrhoids are merely vericose vein in an unpleasant area. ;) ) I attribute that to: 1) Genetics. The women on my mom's side have ugly, nasty veins. 2) The fact that I was a long distance runner from the age of 12 until LC knocked me on my behind. 3) low-body fat that results in bulging veins. (Wow, I'm painting a beautiful picture of myself. How in the world does my husband stick with me? Oh, right. He's going blind. lol. And is a saintly man. ;)

Of course, I also have raynauds that has gotten, it appears, worse, as of late, which makes me wonder how that disease affects other veins. I know docs say raynauds only affects hands and feet, but if those constrict, isn't it possibly my veins elsewhere area faulty or go into vasospasms (or whatever that word is).

But I will say, if you don't have hemorrhoids, don't Q. Celebrate! They can really make life tough---sitting, bike riding, eating dinner with friends... those are all things I honestly felt I'd never be able to do. I'm now able to enjoy some of those, although I still limit my sitting time. Since I'm a writer and editor for a living, that's tough, and means I write in my recliner to redirect blood flow and keep it from pooling in hemorrhoidal areas. But how I miss my nice, huge desk with it's pull-out arms and easy location to my bookshelf.

Well I had bleeding today. First time I had bleeding with hemorrhoids. I also get the feeling of "trapped gas" near the rectum I am not sure if this is the caused by hemmorhoids.

Unfortunately I have constipation and had a hard stool today which made my hemorrhoids worse and bled for the first time. Not sure if its hemmorhoids I do have the itching but the hemmorhoids are not visible. ER said possibly fissure? GI doctor (saw her in the hallway the other day) said internal hemmorhoids and my regular doctor said IBS and allergy lol and she also said "eat whatever you want"...
what can I say I hate doctors.

In the ER. They did all kind of test and said they found no blood in exam but there was some blood in the toilet.

So yeah. Don't strain, this is the cause of my hemmorhoids if I could just get this damn colitis under control my hemmorhoid problems would be gone. Straining and hard stools are damaging me even more so take care of your hemmies with proper bms:S.

Now gonna try miralax, then magnesium citrate.

When I was at my worst, with Explosive D 15-20 times a day, I definitely had some bleeding but feel it was more from irritation than anything. I seemed to do better when I switched from TP to wet wipes. I do have internal h. and think that when they get inflamed, I do bleed some.

Ditto here. When frequent explosive D was a regular problem, 'roids were inflamed and swollen and bleeding was common. Wet wipes definitely helped. As the D settled down, so did the 'roids, and the bleeding disappeared. It's just one more symptom of active MC.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
