colitis and rosacea. Help me please.
Hello good morning. I am marijo of Spain and by chance I discovered your wonderful Forum. My problem is that I don't speak your language, but with the translator, I will try to communicate in good condition. I am 49 years old and a year ago I was diagnosed of C. Lymphocytic, was a big problem in my day since I have come to have very aggressive forms of the disease. The doctor sent me budesonide for 4 months and withdraw it me, the month he returned my illness and sent me the budesonide for always in the lowest possible dose. I am with 3 mg and it seems to be effective for me. Here they don't know much of this disease, and deny the relationship between inflammation and food, so my gastroenterologist sends me to eat everything. I on my own remove gluten and milk and I noticed improvement. I've seen the enterolab test, but not is if they can be from Spain and I guess that not taking budesonide.I would like that they clarified I two concerns: If 3 mg budesonide for life can have undesirable effects for me and tell them that left me an outbreak of intense ROSACEA which makes me much itching and discomfort and was wondering if there is treatment for this, since it produces much shame to have my face so red.
I see that you have much work, is a shame being so far away, I have to study much of your forum to get out of this. Greetings from Spain

Welcome to the Forum. I am taking 3 mg of budesinide every third day, down from a start of 3 mg every day and then every other day. I have had issues with Rosacea that predated CC. Both are auto-immune diseases. My rosacea is made worse by temperature extremes, sun exposure and, very unfortunately, wine. My dermatologist has prescribed a gel to put on my face and I only remember to do it when the redness is very noticable. Your dermatologist should be able to prescribe something to help with the redness.

Hello Marijo,
Welcome to the forum. The rosacea was probably caused by reducing the dosage of budesonide too rapidly. If your doctor cannot write a prescription for a medication to apply to your face to control the rosacea, you might be able to control it by using an antihistamine (the same type that you would use for a pollen allergy). You may have to increase the dose to 2 or 3 times the label recommendation in order to control the rosacea. Do not use more than is needed to control the rosacea, and do not use more than 4 times the dose recommended by the label.
Taking 3 mg of budesonide for life can increase your risk of developing osteoporosis, but it is only a low risk. The risk of developing osteoporosis would be larger if you were to continue to eat gluten. If you can determine all of the foods that cause you to react, and eliminate them from your diet, you may not need to take budesonide for the rest of your life. Send an e-mail to EnteroLab to ask them if you can order a test from Spain.
Welcome, and I hope that we can help you to recover and enjoy good health again.

Welcome Marijo. Glad you found this forum.
It was smart of you to eliminate gluten and dairy from your diet, but you might need to eliminate more. The Enterolab test is a good idea. In the mean time, you will want to try to avoid the foods that are very irritating to an already inflamed gut…. like caffeine, RAW FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, beans and legumes, spicy foods, acid foods ( like tomato and citrus). Continuing to consume these foods can put off healing. Once you are well healed, you can test these foods back into your diet.
Like Tex said; you may not have to be on Budesonide for the rest of your life if you get your diet under control. I took it for 6 months, slowly weaning the dose down until I was off of it.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress

Thank you very much for your answers, I wrote to enterolab, but with budesonide is preferable to not perform. What I have studied reports of Tex, I think that I have problems with my mast cells, red face, extrasystoles...TeX, is better use of an antihistamine or take a supplement of DAO, I've read a lot about this and do not understand well. Forgiveness for abusing his knowledge, but I have the impression that know a lot more than my doctor.Thank you all.Sheila

Marijo,
Many people who have problems with mast cells take both an antihistamine and a supplement of DAO. This is because antihistamines prevent histamine from attaching to histamine receptors in the body, to prevent a reaction from being completed. DAO normally removes unused histamine from the body. But if the supply of DAO is low, the histamine will remain in circulation in the body and it will continue to increase in numbers. DAO, or a supplement of DAO, will remove the surplus histamine from the body, so that it cannot cause problems.
Inflammatory bowel diseases, including MC, can prevent the body from making enough DAO. Therefore, some of us who have mast cell problems, use both antihistamines and a supplement of DAO.

¡Hola, Marijo, y bienvenida!
