GF pasta
I've been paying higher prices for GF pasta for the last couple of years, and have been lukewarm on the taste of most of it. Today in Stop & Shop, there was Barilla GF pasta, 4 boxes for $5 (a box of Schar can cost almost $5 for one box). I also noticed Ronzoni now has a GF line.
This made me happy. I have just finished eating some of it and it tasted good. Some of the GF pastas taste too strongly of corn for me. This one has corn, but the flavor of it is definitely in the background. Additionally, it did not fall apart, which many of the GF pastas do, in my experience.
My husband, 1/2 Italian, is picky about his pasta, though he has been a champ about eating the various GF ones. I think he might be happy with this one.
Busy stretch coming up, including a visit with my 13-month old granddaughter (and, oh right, her parents, LOL) who are visiting from CA. I might check in to look, but not have time to post, so wishing happy holidays to all here. Hi, I have tried many g-f pastas and the best one I use all the time now is Tikiyada. it is made with brown rice, rice bran and water. When using it for meals that are put into the oven I alway boil it approx. 4 minutes less to avoid it from turning into a mush. I usually buy by the box online when they have a sale. Ave price in store is 2.59 to 2.99 for a 16 oz. bag. Jon
I agree regarding the Tinkyada pastas. They're not cheap, but they're excellent. I got the recommendation from a search on this forum, and now I eat no other brand of GF pasta. The corn and/or quinoa pastas are okay with tomato sauces, but the Tinkyada rice pastas are good with everything. Cook them exactly as instructed on the package and you seriously can't tell the difference in texture or taste.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to look for the corn and rice pasta and the Tinkyada pastas too. I love pasta with homemade sauce. I'm looking for a pasta that's tasty enough for guests. I guess that I like the 100% corn pasta the least but even that isn't bad. I tried some of the early GF pasta several years ago. It tasted like little chunks of shoes. I feel that we are about to catch a GF wave and that more foods will become available.
