Tentatively - something new?

Post by Lesley »

This morning I had something that looked closer to N than I have had in years. Not N, but a fairly close relative I think. Much darker, more formed, not pencil thin, no mucous as far as I could see.
Could it be the Claritin? I tried it before and it didn't help. Maybe this time it will?

I only took it for 2 (or maybe 3?) days. I stopped when the allergies improved. I haven't taken it for about 4 days now, and had a D after C cycle at around the same time. No BM for a couple of days, and then...this morning -BAM!

What do I do now? How do I go forward? I so want to see more of this!

Lesley,

You remind me of someone who has MC. When we see improvement after years of misery, we're so surprised that suddenly we don't know how to act.

Seriously, that's great. Obviously you're doing something right, and you're beginning to heal. As the song goes, "This could be the start of something big".

Lesley,
I'm no expert but why fight success? If you feel Claritin played a role in this, then stay with it. As with most things MC related it may vary some but why not go with it longer to see what results. Maybe go back to keeping a food, med and poop diary and look for trends (if you aren't already).

Typically for my allergies I stop Claritin this time of year, after we've had our first hard freeze. But this year I think I'll keep taking it in case it's also helping me with my MC or any mast cell issues.

Keep up the good work!! We are pulling for you.

Thanks guys! It was SO weird that I actually stood there, looked, and poked around to be sure that I wasn't hallucinating. Especially since 2 days ago I have my D day.

Carol, thing is I took Claritin for a massive allergy attack, which is the only thing I did differently in this past week. I will take it again, but not every day. See what happens.

Leslie, At last some GOOD news! I take the Costco version of Zyrtec now and think that helped nudge me to a good place. Allegra not so much. So if you find one that helps, hooray! Happy for you!

No idea Sunny. I used to take zyrtec, but haven't taken it for years. I had Claritin in the house, so took it when he allergy attack hit. Who knows if that's what did it. I am hoping for a repeat. If it is like my back it will be a tiny step forward and then some back. As long as it keeps moving forward a bit I will be happy.

Today I seem to have moved backwards. D is here again and I am exhausted again.
Still, there was one almost N!

I guess if there was one more can be coming!

Ah, I see I'm not the only poop poker!

Leslie, I've been there many times. Once I have more normal visit I get offended when the next time around is something less desirable. It only seems right that once we achieve anything close to Norman we should stay status quo.

No Deb, I think every one of us has poked poop at one time or another.

I wish it had lasted more than one time. It would make me more hopeful that, as Tex said, healing is happening. When the very next day I have huge attacks of every type of BM in the list OTHER than Norman, and total, wipe out exhaustion and cramping pains come rolling in, the brief hopefulness I felt when I saw N glimmering there seems to go down with the swirling of the toilet flush.

And now Licorice is dragging her butt across the floor. Really? Christmas eve? Go out in the traffic and get her seen to? How can I not when butt discomfort and non N poop is the order of MY day?

Lesley,

The longer I take the antihistamine the better I get. I still have to watch what I eat like a hawk but it really helps me to take Allegra every day. Why not take it every day for awhile and see what happens? What do you have to lose?

Pat - I just might since I am now in the miserable throes of C. I need to get going again and it would be nice to get a visit from N!

Pat - Licorice seems to have sorted herself out. I did NOT go out into the pre-Christmas traffic!
