My friend's mom developed hives when she took it because she was allergic to acacia and talc! Acacia is a legume tree, I believe, and may cause allergies in people with certain tree pollen allergies. Of course the artificial food dyes they use are even worse! But at least they use yellow #6, not #5-tartrazine.

Levothyroxine manufactured by Mylan is the one I'm taking now. The following is from the Daily Med website. I take the 50mcg since it has no dyes. It means more pills to match my dose but there's nothing I can do about that. Walgreens, at least where I go, has to special order it so it's never a convenient refill process. They've also tried to split manufacturers telling me it's all the same so I shouldn't worry. Vigilance is a must when picking it up, I always make them double check before I even touch the bottle. I made the mistake once of trusting everything would be ok only to find out when I got home I couldn't take it. Money wasted.
It still has some ingredients I'd rather not be there but so far it's the least offensive of them all. I wish I would have known more from the start because I would have requested Tirosint.
Levothyroxine sodium tablets, USP contain synthetic crystalline L-3,3’,5,5’-tetraiodothyronine sodium salt [levothyroxine (T4) sodium]. Synthetic T4 is identical to that produced in the human thyroid gland. Levothyroxine (T4) sodium has a molecular formula of C15H10I4N NaO4* H2O, molecular weight of 798.86 g/mol (anhydrous), and structural formula as shown:
