STUCK IN THE TUB

Post by janet »

WHAT A WAY TO START THE NEW YEAR.
HAVING A NICE RELAXING SOAK IN A SALTS BATH.
CANDLES AGLOW, MUSIC PLAYING. NICE.
CANT RAISE MYSELF OUT OF TUB, CALL HUSBAND, I START TO PANIC, HE TELLS ME TO PUT MY ARM ROUND HIS NECK AND HE WILL BRACE HIMSELF.
FRIGHTENED I WOULD HURT HIS BACK.
IM NOT FAT, MY LEGS ARE WEAK, BATH TUB SLIPPERY.
LET OUT WATER, SCARED STIFF.
PLACED TOWELS IN BATH AM LISTENED TO STAN AND HOISTED MYSELF SLOWLY OUT.
WILL THIS LEG WEAKNESS LEAVE ME? AS I BEGIN MY JOURNEY ALONG THE ENTOCORT ROAD.
ANY TIPS LADIES FOR NEXT TIME I FEEL LIKE A RELAX IN TUB. THEN CANT GET OUT.
OFF TO NOW TAKE A SHOWER.
THANKYOU FOR LISTENING
HAPPY 2014

Hi Marie, I read your recent posts where you identified recent changes in muscle strength in your legs. You should see a doctor about that. You mentioned that you are 75 and that aging could be a concern BUT you also mentioned that the changes are sudden. I believe that you should speak to your doctor about these changes as soon as possible.

Here is a link for exercises for seniors. If you can't open it, let me know and I'll past some of the content in this thread for you.

.......but exercise doesn't take the place of seeing a doctor about your sudden changes! :bear:

Marie,
Myositis can come on slowly. Upper leg weakness is one of the major symptoms. Please see a doctor ASAP.

Janet, I've not been able to climb out of the tub since May heart surgery 2 years ago. I had a similar experience & it was frightening! Thanx to DJ! That link for senior exercises was great. I'm going to point it too & start tomorrow also.

You are welcome Sunny. Tubs are so dangerous. I have a family friend who was stranded alone in a tub for several hours. I cringe when I remember the story.
