organic shampoo
In searching for organic shampoos, locally, it is very difficult to find one without gluten, parabens, SLS etc. I did find one, but it had Vitamin E (tocopherols) which is derived from soy. If the ingredient is half way down the list, do you think it would bother me? What are your experiences, if you stay away from soy?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Linda :)

Linda, I use Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo, and am pleased with it, as I am with all of their products. Unless I missed something, it does not contain gluten or soy and is reasonably priced. I get mine at Vitacost at a discounted price.

I don't know if this company makes a shampoo, but their skin care products and cosmetics are gluten free, organic and fabulous.

I saw an article earlier this week where some ladies gave up commercial and organic shampoo's.
Mainly due to amount of chemicals .... Also, gluten, wheat germ, oat based ingredients.
It took a couple months to transition where the hair looked great without any shampoo
I haven't been able to find the article again...
So far as reacting, I think the soy in shampoo and or hand wash only causes me issues, if mast cells/histamine is elevated
When I used to get my hair coloured, it would cause a huge spike in mast cells/histamine....

My son had dreadlocks for about a year and a half and used Knotty Boy Dreadlock Shampoo made in Canada. It doesn't have any questionable ingredients. I used it a few times and since I use so much hairspray for my fine hair it didnt seem to get my hair clean and had a very heavy not clean feeling when done. Maybe I didn't give it enough uses but I would still recommend it.

I just recently found out about this website: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/. You can search for specific brands and products and see what's in them. They've given the products a rating and broken it all down. Seems handy for making sense of all those ingredients! There's also a smartphone app that allows you to just scan the barcode of the item.
