Update on stools

Post by Lucy »

Knew that would get your attention!! Ha!

Anyhow, don't know when it started, but all of a sudden, it seems my stools are consistently (for now, anyway) sinking to the bottom of the bowl! That's a GOOD thing, too!

Anyhow, even though I've not been able to see any fat in my stools since I completely removed the allergens, and it stopped rainin' poop around here, I've been under the assumption that they'd been floating due to the fat content while the gut was finishing up the more minute amounts of healing it had left to go.

After a while, I'd begun to think poops would always float, and just accepted that, but now, think I'll completely heal for all intents and purposes.

That probably accounts for the reason that I once again have to watch calories -- absorbing almost all the fat now!

Anyhow, I don't have C, but without the fat to make the consistency softer, that exerts a little more pressure against the wall of the gut, and of late, I've felt the pressuure in the left lower abdomen, perhaps over the left ureter or the diverticulum or else some adhesions from the surgeries. I particularly feel that when I awaken and have a full bladder. It seemed to hurt just on the left side for several days before passing the firmest of stools the other day, then felt better with a full bladder the next day when I presume my gut wasn't so full. It will be interesting to see, after the next large meal I eat (when eat out is when I eat more usually, and fill up he gut with stool like that), if that discomfort occurs only on one side like that again.

I read recently that one can have referred pain from the gut which feels as though it's coming from the pelvic cavity. Hmm!

Seems as though at every step of the way, the muscles of the gut have to get used to a firmer and firmer stool as there's less fat with healing, even long after the D has left, and there's no obvious fat. If it weren't for the fact that I eat sooo much fiber, especially when eating out like this, I'd be worried about getting C. Guess it's just like when you start to exercise with wts or reps of an exercise. Gut just builds up strength as it deals with each increment of firmness.

Gotta go. Yours, Luce
The C word is hardly left in my vocabulary! Ha!
