Research on permeability of the gut

Post by Lucy »

Just recently read something on a site for Interstitial Cystitis Association -- think that's where I read it, anyway.

They must suspect it's related to "leaky gut" phenomenon, just as celiac, RA, Type I diabetes, M.C., thyroid disease, etc. are related, but didn't have the time to go deeper into that site.

Anyway, the research I saw stated that there had been research showing that rats' guts became "leaky" related to unusual increases in stress. Don't know about the rest of you, but back in the 80's, in particular, I had a particularly tramatic period of time, not to mention all the surgeries I've had, most of which started immediately after that period of time. I had traumatic stress syndrome, with another flash back in the '90's related to what happened the decade before, and then in '99, finding my dad and having to do CPR, and assume all the responsibility for my uncle and Mom til the present. All the stuff I've experienced since my dad's death has seemed pretty normal stuff, so even though things are hard, I don't think it's making my gut leak now.

I read a while back where someone had noted that frequently folks have to have their thyroid's out following the death of a close family member or loved one. This would seem to fit, wouldn't it?

And by the way, Interstitual Cystitis has no known cause. Here we go again! Ha!

Anyway, just thought you'd better tell all the mice you know to take it easy or they'll get the big D! LOL!

Yours, Luce
