I am recouperating from the business trip from hell. I'll try to make this brief. Maybe those of you who travel for work can relate to this.
I had to fly to Chicago early on Thursday during a blizzard to attend a useless meeting that could have been done by video conferencing or some other means. I spent 8 hours in one meeting, then 5 hours on a train because our homebound flight , which takes 45 minutes, was cancelled, had to roust a friend out of bed at midnight to pick me up at the train station and take me to the airport to get my car. Remember that movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles?? That was me. I've never been so tired in all my life. At least I made it home alive.

Man, Melissa, that was "hell" wasn't it? I used to travel for work, and have been to O'Hare more times than I care to count. I was very very lucky and never had flight delays. I probably shouldn't have said that out loud 'cause I may have just jinxed myself for my next trip.....
Very glad you're home safe and sound

I had a business trip from HELL too, back when I was working. It was my very first business trip and so when planning the flights I had to give a time when I could leave, but it was based on what time I finished my exam on the final day. Needless to say I booked it for later in the day, since I was also an hour and a half away from the airport. I was there for the whole week in which we were taught all about personal loans and collections, etc. Problem was that we stayed in the dorms at the university and that week happened to be the hotest wekk on recordm and there was NO air conditioning. Even with the window opened no real air would get through to cool the room down some. So I could not sleep at all. We would attend classes till around 5pm, starting at 9 or 8:30 am, but were always left with an assignment to have ready for classes in the morning. So after grabbing a quick bite for dinner, we had to hit the books, and that session usually did not end till around 9pm or so. LONG days amd by the Friday when we had to write a 2-3 hour exam, everyone there were walking zombies. I don't know how I made it through the exam, but I did it in 2 hours, but my connecting ride to the airport was not for another 3 hours, and we had to have checked out of our so called rooms by noon. So could not even lay down for a rest. Then when I got to the airport I had to wait another 3 hours because of a cancellaton, I was falling asleep sitting up. Finally getting home, after an hour and a half plane ride, all I could think of was going to bed, but that was just wishfull thinking, my girls were young at the time and wanted to take me out for dinner, and I couldn't say no to them, they were just so excited. I was so tired by then I held back my tears so the girls wouldn't notice, but I felt like balling my head off by then. Needless to say when I finally got to bed I basically slept for the whole weekend.
The next time I went on a business trip though I knew exactly the time to allow. But the one thing I was afraid of was getting a failing grade because of being tired, and to this day I do not know how I pulled off a 80 something on the exam.
It was a horrible week.
So I can sumpathize with you.
Gentle hugs
Wendy
