Thank you all!!
I have had it a few times over the years, but this is the worst case I have ever had. I usually get one small patch and it's over. The days before the sores are usually by far the worst. Once they come out it's getting better. This time I am having horrible pain, and it's getting worse.
I have asked my doctor for the meds. If she answers by tomorrow I will be able to get them. Otherwise on Monday. Hopefully I will ward off any more bad pain.
While I am still happy that I don't have CRPS I would hate to have long lasting pain from these shingles.

Lesley,
I am glad you are getting the medicine. I know several people that took it, and it helped tremendously, although it is important to get it early in the breakout.
I would also consider the vaccine once you are healed as it could prevent future episodes.
After 2 close friends and my dad had shingles, I decided the get the vaccine. There were no side effects.
Sending healing energy from frozen NY!!

Yes, it is rare to have it bilaterally. I also had it bilaterally and it was diagnosed improperly for that reason. I went to a walk-in clinic while still in the early stages of shingles and was told it was something else. When the blisters appeared, I finally got the anti-virals. It was very, very painful as it ran its' course but I didn't have any post herpetic pain, thank God. Good luck, Leslie. I hope you recover quickly.

To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.

"glad" there is another rare one. Not "glad" really. There isn't a word to describe it. You know what I mean.
It's taking a long time to get over. I got the meds late too. Hopefully I will not be left with pain.
Now I have a cold. I hope this is the 3rd of a 3-some. Enough. I have a bunch of stuff to do, and no energy to do it.
