Questran anyone?
Anyone use Questran for the control of D? Just curious.

When first Dx'd I was prescribed questran
It worked quite well for slowing motility so the motions were near normal.
The tricky part with it, after any meds, you need to wait 5 hours to have it, then it needs to be taken 6 hours before any meds.
The GI specialist did not mention this, it was the pharmacist that helped me set a schedule that worked.
In my case, this meant having dinner each night by 6 pm, and then setting the alarm for near midnight to take the questran
It is.also a bit harsh on the enamel on your teeth, recommend brushing teeth after taking it.
I only took it for ?? 3 -4 months, starting at 8mg per day and over that time reducing to 1mg, during that time I found this forum, removed all the triggers that affected the majority, I had done the elimination diet and removed all major triggers, and was sticking to my trusted eating plan
Like any of the medication protocols for mc, it works for some, not all.
It will work well if you figure out your eating plan, and remove/minimise major triggers.
Hope this helps...

Questran also helps for people like me who have had their gallbladder removed, to help digest fats and control D when the bile flow is not consistent. On the label, it states to take it two hours after taking any other medication, and then two hours before taking any other med, so I usually have it just before eating lunch. That way it doesn't interfere with my morning or evening meds.

I tried it for a period of time and did not notice any improvement at all. It caused stomaches occasionally. The drinking of the glass of sand everyday would have been tolerable if I had some results. My son took it for a long period of time to attempt to control puritis and he had a horrible time with it. He could only drink it with Sunny D, he also got stomach aches, and it often made him vomit. Everyone is different in their tolerance levels.
It's worth a try to see if it brings some relief.
