Pasta! Pasta! Pasta!

Post by wmonique2 »

Hello friends,

Ronzoni, the pasta makers, have just joined the fray and made a GF pasta. I tried it---it is good. It's made of corn, rice and quinoa. Now i still love my Sam Mills corn pasta but this is a variation on the theme. It tastes as close to wheat pasta as you can imagine.

It's about time a real pasta maker made something for us. Since going GF has become a trend (lucky us), you'll find this pasta on the regular shelves together with the other pastas.

Now I wish I hadn't ordered a lifetime supply of Sam Mills pasta. If this is better than the Sam Mills pasta, it must be terrific stuff.

Thanks,

Tex

Thanks Monique, I'll have to check this out. Our local WalMart stores have started carrying more GF items in the last year or so. When I looked up local availability on the Ronzoni site, the only store in my area listed is the one that recently changed owners.

I'll ask the grocery manager where I work if she has the option to order it. At least the GF version of this brand is on walmart.com and shows available in stores.

Tex,

It's not better, just different. I love the corn flavor one, this tastes more like wheat...I keep eating both...

Brenda---I bought mine at Kroger. A regular supermarket...

Thanks Monique. Our grocery store choices in Amarillo are limited. We have United that is based out of Lubbock but recently bought by Albertsons, WalMart, one CostPlus that was an Albertsons.

At least a couple of the WalMart stores carry some GF items like Udi's and Glutino. Besides the health food stores we do have a Drug Emporium that has the best selection of GF items. At least that store is on my side of town and Amarillo is not that big of a town.

I purchased this pasta at Krogers also. We had spaghetti last week and it was great!. My husband even ate some
of the pasta plain and loved it.

Thanks Monique. I usually just buy the rice pasta from Trader Joes ( it's inexpensive), but if I see this, I will give it a try

I wish I could eat pasta. I usually substitute spaghetti squash or mashed potatoes when I make a sauce, but, much as I like it, it's not the same.
The quinoa pasta is made with corn.

Barilla now has a GF pasta, too, that is reasonable. I haven't found it yet but it is supposed to be good also. I think it's corn and rice. Deb

I just bought the Barilla one to try in soup. It was on sale for $2. I'll let you know how it goes.
