Shingles...over, almost

Post by Lesley »

It was AWFUL! I had a lot of involved dermatomes bilaterally, which is pretty rare. Why do I have to always go to the extreme, I ask you?
Thanks to all who persuaded me to get the meds. The blisters have gone, thank goodness, but the skin sensitivity on touch is not yet resolved completely. At least it is not hurting abominably with every step!
If you had chickenpox as a child do get the shot. If it helps you to avoid shingles it is worth it.
I have had shingles many times, but it is always confined to a small, manageable area, so my doctor said the shot was unlikely to help much. This time it was so awful I am getting the shot. What have I got to lose?

Still having the same old problems. I started to add in a couple of foods to see what would happen. I put some almond flour into a muffin recipe. For a week or so I got a couple of bms that were formed, though not N - re: color etc., and didn;t have to go the C and then stool softener route. I felt slightly better. Not so achy, a little more energy and so forth. Didn't last. Today I have pain all over, exhaustion, awful digestive discomfort, and bm was, though still fairly formed, pale yellow and floaty with some narrow parts.

Oh well, back to the old drawing board.

Maybe that's a sign that you're beginning to heal.

Lesley - I haven't posted much lately, but read often. I am so sorry you had to deal with shingles.

Tex may be right - the changes you're seeing in your bm's may be a sign of healing. :xfingers:

What is, Tex and Paula? I would love it to be, but I am getting bms without stool softeners and laxatives only when I eat things that seemed to be forbidden by my enterolab results, like almond four, and some chicken stock in cooking. I also use eggs, but I have always been able to tolerate some in baked goods. Using more ingredients is great, and it seems to make me have bms almost daily (which is wonderful!) without any other "help", but they are definitely not Ns, especially in the past 2 days.

Hi Leslie,

I was thinking about you! I know what it is like with having the shingles multiple times. I did have the shot but still got shingles and you should do the shot you never know everyone is different.

The improvement that you experienced might have had nothing to do with the almond flour, etc., but was simply a sign that you are healing. On the other hand, maybe the change did make a difference. After all, the results of the EnteroLab Panel C test do not exactly make those foods "forbidden". The results are to be used more like guidelines, rather than as if they were chiseled in stone. IOW, there might be some flexibility there.

Anything that breaks your long-term severe C cycle should be a step in the right direction, because that is the main thing that has to change if you are ever going to progress to a more normal cycle (IMO).
