Finally Back On!
Morning All,
Well 6 days without power left me lacking on the board. Any pictures you saw of the situation in Pennsylvania did not do it justice. Was actually worse here than when Hurricane Sandy hit. We stayed at a hotel about 45 miles from home and that was the closest one we could find. Left the house on Thursday afternoon when it got 33 degrees in the house. The power companies are working non stop from as far away as Quebec and I think we have seen them all. Many, many thanks go out to them for the work they did and are still doing. Our county - Chester County in PA - was actually hit the hardest and we still have over 4,000 homes without power after six days. Looking at another storm starting tomorrow night with 6 to 12 inches of snow but hopefully, no ice. The amazing thing about the last storm is that 6 days later and a good number with bright sun, all of the trees around where I live are still ice covered - no melt to speak of. Just wanted to fill you in on what happened from a person going through it perspective.
Stay warm and hopefully, no future storms after this. I can hope!
Love, Maggie

Hi Maggie,
What an ordeal! I hope that everything will be back reasonably close to normal soon. And I hope that the next storm will turn out to be a lot kinder and gentler.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Wow, Maggie!
I live a little "below" you, and we were luckier. No power loss, but the neighborhood right next to us was out for quite some time. Keeping fingers crossed for this next storm Wed. nite - right now they are predicting more than a foot of snow for us. And I have also noticed how much colder this winter is by how long the trees stay ice/snow-coated.
Have you seen any snowy owls this winter? Some have been sighted around here, which is highly unusual.
Stay warm and safe!
Love,
Polly

Thanks all and so looking forward to the one coming tonight - apparently heavy snow and possibly 12-16".
Polly - Did see (3) Snowy Owls this year - 1 at Cape Henlopen Point; 1 at Bombay Hook NWR; 1 in Lancaster PA.
Been such a strange year for birds. And yes the trees that were ice covered in our community last week are still holding the ice and that is after very sunny days but the temps are just so low.
Everyone in the path of this storm - stay safe.
Love, Maggie

Just a thought re the coming storm........
In my neck of the woods, whenever a snowstorm is forecast, everyone immediately runs to the grocery store to buy (and hoard) 3 items - bread, milk, and toilet paper. It's crazy, and the local news folks love to film the empty shelves where those 3 products were stored. Anyway, it occurred to me today that there is a benefit to having MC: I only need to buy toilet paper! LOL! There is always a silver lining, right?
Maggie - I have never seen such cold. It's only 6 degrees as I write this. Congrats on the owl sightings! Stay safe!
