Questions regarding products that claim enzymes will help.
All over my social media I have been overwhelmed but yet tempted by these products that claim to be able to digest with enzymes through "gluten cutter" and I just want to know from you guys on weather this is good for us. Sorry if this is a duplicate topic. I think I may have saw a similar one but not sure if enzymes are different. Thanks for everything
Basically, those products are often helpful if you discover that you have accidentally ingested gluten (provided that you discover it soon enough and take the product before the undigested peptides reach your small intestine). They can often prevent a major reaction.
I certainly wouldn't want to rely on them to allow me to intentionally eat gluten, though, because they don't do a perfect job, meaning that some slight amount of intestinal damage is likely to occur. Usually, the damage will be below the threshold at which a reaction is triggered. However, if that happens repeatedly, then the damage is going to continue to build, and eventually it will reach a level at which a reaction will be likely to occur, and it may continue, once it is triggered (because of the accumulated damage).
Such products are best viewed as an insurance policy for people who like to eat out.

Thank you Tex! This explanation makes so much sense. This is my fourth year with MC. Last year I purchased an enzyme that claimed to digest gluten and casein along with a spectrum of other food. After a few weeks of digesting all types of food it suddenly felt as if the pill was starting not to work and I felt by body eventually go over the threshold of experiencing an episode and got really sick.
Now a year later I see a different product called "Gluten Cutter" all over my social media and it touts the ability to digest a wide spectrum of food including dairy and gluten. I could not help but to wonder was there some type of progress made since the last time I tried a product.
If there is one thing I have learned over the years is to trust very little outside of my own experience and this board. Thanks!
