Aspartame in medications: is this a problem?
I can see why drinking larger amounts of aspartame can be a problem for us, but how problematic is it likely to be as an inactive ingredient in medication?.
For example, I was considering switching from Claritin Redi-tabs to Wal-itin Fast Dissolving tablets- but I hesitated when I saw aspartame listed as an inactive ingredient.
Is this small amount of aspartame likely to be a problem in the long run?
thanks Carol

IMO The sucky answer is 'it depends'
If your body is a bit reactive, the small amount might be enough to cause issues, or if you take the tablets for a constant long duration.
Did you see Kari's response in Sheila's thread, about her second MRT results???

Aspartame on my MRT is a mid to high green. If aspartame creates histamine for me and it's in my antihistamine.... ..... This is giving me a headache.
I'll check Sheila's thread. Thanks Gabes and Leah.

I don't think you can ever get 'perfection with everything' in MC world.
Don't sweat the small stuff, so long as your exposure to things is minimised be ok with that.
Some of my meds have lactose, life without the meds is worse than life with the small amount that is contained within them.

Gabes, isn't that the truth? I'm always looking for the lesser of two evils in seems. Truth is I can stay with the Claritin Redi-tabs but I'd like to save some money since it's a med I take frequently. I may just have to challenge the Wal-itin Fast Dissolve and find out.
thanks
