I am thinking about buying liquid Chlorophyll (DeSouza brand) but noticed that chlorophyll has wheat and barley grass. In checking, I've read where wheat and barley grass, if not seeded, does not contain gluten, so, do you think it would be safe to take? I will also call the mfg. to see if there is a chance for cross contamination, but has anyone ever chanced taking wheat/barley grass without problems? Is there even a liquid chlorophyll without wheat/barley grass???
Thanks for any help.

Hi Garina. I also asked the manufacturer of a barley grass product about the gluten factor, and they said it was fine…. but I decided to go with a green drink called "Catie's gluten free greens" instead just in case I was producing IgE antibodies to wheat. I drink it every day with no problems.

Garina,
Those products are claimed to be made from young, immature plants, so they shouldn't contain any gluten at all.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I'm so happy to learn that chlorophyll may be okay. We went to a very informative seminar regarding supplements/vitamins/herbs, and the speaker stressed how important greens are. Chlorophyll helps with the fact that many don't consume enough greens ... and that's me. She also stated that liquid chlorophyll, just a few drops daily, makes a world of difference in how you feel. Guess I'll find out. Stated was that it is a detox, is antibacterial, builds RBCs, improves immunity, and removes heavy metals. That is a tall order, but if it does just a tiny bit of any of that, I won't complain.
Given the fact that I was worried about the wheat/barley grass, I have been hesitant to try it.
Leah, Thanks so much for the name of your green drink. I will check that out, because it sounds like more of a sure thing for GF people.
Tex, As usual, I'm always glad to get your input and take it to heart. So, I'm feeling much better about chlorophyll already.
Much appreciated.
