Paging Pat

Post by Polly »

Hi Pat!

Just a quick note to let you know how much I appreciate your carrying the "thyroid" flag! You always jump in at just the right time to suggest to PP that thyroid dysfunction could be a reason for certain symptoms. Keep carrying that flag - it is important! You are undoubtedly our resident thyroid expert.

Regards,

Polly

Thanks, Polly, but I do not consider myself an expert. I just read a book and website, www.Stopthethyroidmadness.com and the book by the same name, which are very informative. I highly recommend anyone with low or high thyroid symptoms to read it. The lady who wrote it is kinda like Tex. She is just another thyroid patient who has researched and started forums and has compiled all her knowledge and put it into a book and her website. An interesting side note: She lives in the same small town in Texas as I do. When I ordered her book her assistant hand delivered it and they refunded the shipping charge! I have never met her but maybe someday our paths will cross. My doctor thinks that the thyroid med will help my MC, maybe not cure but help. He thinks the LDN just helps with symptoms. I'm in favor of whatever will help except I have tried to avoid steroids.

Pat, I'm curious- how would thyroid meds help with MC?

Deb,

I really don't know. I just repeated what my doctor said. I have a difficult time trusting doctors after what I have been through the last 15 years but this doctor has helped me more than any of the others. He helped me with my bioidentical hormones including my cortisol. The others had no clue about any of that. He tested my Free T3 and T4 and started me on natural dessicated thyroid medicine when the others only tested TSH. He thought the LDN was a good idea but I had already gotten my GI doc to prescribe it. I am trying to trust him. I will ask him that question when I see him at the end of April. Stopthethyroidmadness also seems to think that getting your thyroid hormones normalized will help with diarrhea issues. We will see. Since I am on both thyroid medicine and LDN the only way we will know is if I get off the LDN someday I guess. Will keep you posted.
