I've used Growing Naturals organic rice protein powder in the past. I've found, for myself, that it is safer to just eat meat as my source of protein and it tides me over longer than a shake alone. I used to sprinkle it on my chex cereal and banana for breakfast but within a few hours my stomach was grumbling and ready for lunch. It has a good flavor and isn't bitter like some of the rice based powders.

I'm just guessing, but I have a hunch that the reason why meat satisfies our appetite so much better/longer than protein powder, is because of the fat content. Fat is what satiates our hunger better than anything else, and there probably isn't any fat at all in protein powder, because most armchair experts consider fat to be so unhealthy, doncha know.

I have been wanting to try the hemp protein powder, but have not been able to get a small sample, so I can confirm if it will be ok for me (and can't afford the $80 to buy a tub only to find out it doesn't work)
I use rice protein, it has been really good for work, working lunches, if I am going out for the day, travelling etc.
I mix mine with some coconut water/ rice milk and some raw cocoa for flavour.

Makes sense, Tex. I always chuckle when getting advise about my diet from doctors. A majority of my meal is meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Followed by veggies or rice and fruit if I want something sweet. My cholesterol levels can't be beat. This isn't convenient for meals on the go but I am able to come home for lunch so I make everything fresh for each meal.

I tried hemp powder once many years ago with disastrous results, which doesn't mean that it wouldn't be ok for someone else. I too get my protein from meat and fish and leave the powders alone. I sometimes get turkey jerkey from Wellness meats in the US. It's only turkey and salt. It's pretty pricey but makes a good meal on the go.
