Gratitude

Post by Pat N »

Hi All,
My gratitude goes out to all of you! I'm newly diagnosed with mc. I have been combing through the posts eagerly for several days now. It feels like I know many of you already! I have been on the elimination diet for several days although have only been dairy free for 2 1/2 days. I'm hanging on to a little morning coffee with a bit of coconut milk in it. Otherwise completely following the diet to a t. Am reading Tex's amazing book on mc. I don't know what I'd be doing if not for finding all of you! My GI specialist started me on Pepto-Bismol two weeks ago with the diagnosis. I felt like if it was going to help then it would have already. I've stopped taking it The diet has slowed the D down so I'm not in the bathroom 10+ times per day. The quality of the D is slowly slowly becoming fingers crossed at bit less watery. This trouble has been with me since a course of antibiotics in late December 2013. So more than 4 months. I may have had mc though since 2010 though. I had D every day of 2010 until I finally got every last bit of gluten out of my diet. It is in everything and it takes true detective work to get it completely gone. All symptoms went away until the doxycycline for a sinus infection in December. Who knew? What a mess I find myself in!
Talk again soon. You are the best.

Hi Pat,

Welcome to our internet family. You obviously are motivated and willing to do what is necessary to control this disease, and you appear to be on track with your treatment, so you will surely get your life back as you continue to heal.

Thank you for the kind words, best of luck with your treatment program, and please keep us posted on your progress.

Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Welcome to the group.
Have you tried probiotics. Many times this will be needed after a round of antibiotics because they kill all the bacteria including the good kind.

Pat
that is great news that things are starting to improve with less toilet visits! woo hoo!

be patient, take your time, let the body heal for a while.
Once people start to feel better they try new ingredients and for most it can set you back (almost back to the beginning)

the people of this 'family' are fantastic. The support, the wisdom, the hugs and the compassion given, are all important parts of healing and getting our lives back.

Welcome to the family Pat.
I found these wonderful folks April1st. & cut gluten, dairy, oats, spice, artificial sweetener, caffeine, nuts, fruit, raw veg, soy&alcohol out of my diet immediately. I have now had 3 days with solid BM. Soooo thankful! I just received my book in the mail today. Will relax in a tub of H2O &epsom salt with my new read.
Hope you find relief in your MC Journey.

I am thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn't have stumbled across my strength.

What are you willing to let go of so you can live the life you know you deserve?
