Marliss,
OK, let me see if I have this straight. If I read that article correctly, it says that those medical geniuses have discovered that nerve fibers are associated with pain. Really? Who would have ever guessed that nerve fibers might be associated with pain? . . . Oh yeah, everyone else in the world, except for them. Are those guys for real? Clearly, they must be from another galaxy, far, far away. I wonder why the article didn't disclose which galaxy they are from? That might have made the article worth reading, because it would have surely made it much more interesting.
Thanks for the link,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Actually, I think the article is saying the pain response is due to a problem with blood flow or the sympathetic processes that regulate blood flow rather than just the brain processing nerve signals wrong or differently. (That's what they meant, I think, by previously attributing it to a problem with the brain, like a chemical process or something.)
This is actually great news for those with fibro as now perhaps doctors will focus on what causes the difference in blood flow rather than suppressing the pain through medications.

I've found all my fibermyalgia symptoms have disapated since eliminating gluten, soy, dairy, and eggs. Some of the unexplained pain will resurface at times but I also know there are slips in eating that are my own fault and other offenders that I haven't nailed down yet. I also don't get the dibilitating migraines that I used to either. It may or may not be the reason behind it but it does make think there's a link. Getting rid of all the chemicals, dyes, and fillers have worked wonders. It may not be the answer for everyone but I'm pleased to have no additional drugs being used to manage something that is not understood. In my case I think it was a WAG to put a name on it so I would be appeased. It only served to frustrate me even more.
Do many people with fybromyalgia also have thyroid issues?

I have been on pain meds for joint and muscle pain for several years.
Since going DF and cutting back on gluten and carbs I have finally been able to wean off the Lyrica.
For the past 2 weeks without it I have experienced no pain! And even more amazing the years I have been on pain meds I still had pain, just not as much as without the meds.

Nerdhume,
That's great for you. I'm sure it's a relief to eliminate the painkillers and I am sure your body thanks you for it also. Great result ! Anything positive that results from our eliminating triggers is a blessing!
Getting your results back from Enterolab was a bit overwhelming I'm sure. Hang in there.

I am thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn't have stumbled across my strength.
What are you willing to let go of so you can live the life you know you deserve?
