Doctors!!!

Cross posting:
went to my PC yesterday to tell her about LDN. She had never heard of it. I told her that I wanted her to know I am using it, and gave her the articles I had printed out. She wouldn't take them. Said she would have to do her own research, would look into the NIH research. I showed her that one of the articles is NIH, but she still refused. She went through my meds, and realized that I am cutting down on just about everything, no longer take opioids in spite of breaking my back and rupturing disks, and have no intention of making this a forever medication. There is therefore no danger of drug inter reactivity. She was quick to say there is no long term evidence re: use of it. Frankly there is no way to get long term evidence unless people use it long term, but I only want to use it to try to effect some healing.
She read me all the side effects of Naltrexone, NOT LDN which irritated the hell out of me. It is like talking to a brick wall!
I wish I had the support of my doctors. I would like to use it topically so it didn't go through my digestive tract, but at least it is documented that I am taking it.

I can share here that there is no difference. Same C, same reaction to taking stool softeners. No WD, but far from N. No energy, foggy head. Aches and pains all alive and well. I have added onion and squash into my diet, so now I am eating lamb, potatoes, apple puree, olive oil, acorn squash, carrots, onion, a little lemon juice, oatmeal. No change whatsoever.

Ohhh girl. My heart goes out to you. I'm sorry your Doc is sooo uncooperative. If it were me I would search out a new one till I find one willing to work with me. I got lucky that the GP Ive had for yrs. has a wife with bowel disease & is totally on board. Why do Docs think that there is only one way to treat. We are all individuals and our treatment should reflect that. Hang in there. Many hugs!

Lesley, I'm sorry to hear this . Too bad that your doc is so hard headed. I know you'd change if you could. I'm doubly sorry that LDN is not making an impact yet. On the Facebook LDN site, some folks did say it took them 1-2 months to see improvement. I wonder if it depends on how 'beaten down' your immune system is? It may take it longer to rally.

Hang in there. Keep in touch.

Thanks Carol. This has been a really bad day. One of those D days that you know needs to be a d (diaper) night. So discouraging.
I am not giving up. I'll give it my best try.

So sorry Lesley, but if you have Kaiser, then you are allowed to change doctors as much as you want. It might be worth a shot.

Leah - My PC is generally one of the good guys. She has a problem because this is NOT her field, and she is supposed not to have to deal with it since I have a GI. She knows the GI needs to be dealing with it, but he won't. This guy is the 3rd GI I have had. They are all more or less the same there. I don't know how to find someone different.
I might have to go privately.

Heady - been there, done that. Not fun.
