I do empathise what a huge change and adjustment this is, and how overwhelming it is to make the change.
Many of us were big raw vege, salad, fruit eaters before Dx.
deep breathes... Everything that you knew, told about nutrition and eating till this point, goes out the window.....
its a whole new ball game.
(picture something like American football players trying to play soccer)
the skin of a cucumber would be pretty high in fibre and be an irritant to your inflammed system.

Martha,
The problem that many of us have with eggs is that we produce antibodies to the albumen (the primary protein in the egg white), and this is the source of the inflammation from eggs. These antibodies are what EnteroLab test for when they test for egg sensitivity.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I don't know how I'm going to survive, I know I'm not getting a thousand calories a day and feel like I'm allergic to everything. The steroid makes me hungry but I'm scared to eat! It's all contaminated :( I might be 95 lbs I can't lose more weight. Don't know how I'm gonna get through this. Just so hard. Sorry for excessive violin…. thank you for the forum and all the advice, m
Hi Martha. You didn't mention how long it's been since you changed your diet and if your BMs are at least better and less frequent then they were. if so, that's progress. I didn't see "normans" for over a year, but I was down to one a day. For me, that was doing pretty well. Be patient. It takes time to heal.
Also, like Gabes said, secondary contact doesn't always matter for some of us. I can eat GF, DF, and SF products with no problems even if they were "made on machines that" …etc. AT the beginning, it's most important to make sure you aren't eating those things purposely. Down the road, you can fine tune your diet if you are still having issues. Try not to fret too much. Stress is bad for us.
If you do the Enterolab tests, figuring it all out will be so much easier.

Martha,
Being overwhelmed is understandable but there is a way out of this. As Gabes said, deep breaths. You can figure this out if you can clam down your whirling mind and take things slowly. Probably all of us have been there. I can remember when things were at there worst for me and I could barely leave the bathroom, it was hard for me to believe that anyone else could possibly being going through this and live to tell the tale. Then I found this forum, saw I was just one of many, and followed the good advice I got here. For a while I lived on only ground lamb. As far as fats go, have you tried coconut oil? It is supposedly absorbed more easily than other fats and therefore less likely to cause problems. I also found the Enterolab tests to be very helpful and definitely worth the expense.

A used to order the non-soy fed chicken eggs from Tropical Traditions. This was before I found this forum and before my symptoms were at their worst. Eggs had always seemed problematic to me so I hoped that these eggs would make a difference. For a while they seemed to. My primary reaction to eggs had been nausea and for a little while the soy free eggs did not cause nausea but then the nausea came back. I finally had to accept that I couldn't eat eggs, didn't matter what the chickens ate. My enterolab results confirmed what my body had already told me.MarthaE wrote:have u read about the chickens raised on organic coconut feed instead of soy feed??? And organic eggs from chicken that aren't fed soy? Think its from a place called tropical traditions. I'm curious if these would cause less of an allergic reaction for me
