Hi, This thread has interested me since Polly posted the VDR information. First, the FSHD researchers state that FSHD individuals have suppressed innate immune systems. Second, since my DNA is not protected by methylation it is subject to any pathogen that gets into the bloodstream. Thus since the first defense is impaired there is no defense until the adaptive immune system reacts. That will be three days of the pathogen attacking the cells. Now, the mitochrondria are producing a toxic protein that prevent the proper zinc-chromation transcription of DNA. Did this pathogen pass on it own DNA into the cell to disrupt the proper transcription? Since my adaptive immune system is in overdrive against this toxic protein, "is it now recognizing other proteins as a pathogen? The FSHD researchers at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands found that people with FSHD are hypomethylated. They proposed a study with a oral folic acid and B-12 supplement. The study lacked promise. This may be due to malaabsorption issues because they never ask any questions about the G.I tract. One improvement of methylation status they did not recommend would be to eat foods from the methyl group. Statistics show that 99% of people with muscular dystrophy have G.I issues. The methylation of DNA is important because it is also linked to cancers. There are two types variable or global hypomethylation. So far what has helped is a diet rich in antioxidants, plus the four supplements that were recommended from a highly succsessful FSHD study from France. Since we reproduce millions of cells day could the hypomethylation of the cells in the G.I tract allow these pathogens to disrupt the normal transcription of healthy cells? Could this be the reason for the many different muscle diseases because each bacteria or virus carries a different DNA? Jon
