Tex or anyone understand my IgA blood work results…..
Not sure what these mean. IgA 2 negative IgG 1 negative tTG IgA <2 Endomysial Antibody IgA Negative 110 Ferritin serum 6 low vitamin D 25 hydroxy 28 low thanks for the help, m
Hi Martha,
Well, without the actual numbers on the IgA1 and IgA2 test results, I'll have to assume that the negative results mean that your test results were in the normal range, and therefore you do not have selective IgA deficiency. Your negative anti-tissue transglutaminase/anti-endomysial antibody results indicate that you do not have an autoimmune reaction (a reaction against self — at least your test results didn't show antibodies to those 2 enzymes).
Your low ferritin serum result shows that you have an iron deficiency, and your vitamin D level is somewhat low. With a blood ferritin level that low, you are probably feeling rather anemic. As you are probably aware, taking an iron supplement can be somewhat tricky, because many/most iron supplements tend to cause digestive issues.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

my suggestion would be to start/increase your Vit D3 supplement first.
Your cells need good levels of Vit D3 to absorb all the other nutrients etc via the digestion.
If you take good doses of Vit D3 for 6-8 weeks then look at increasing other supps etc.
Highly recommend paying the little bit extra and get sublingual Vit D3, it will absorb and convert better than tablet form.
NB do not take iron supplement and any product/food high in Zinc close together, it affects the iron absorption

I have been having a good day... went and captured another beautiful sunrise at a different location.
Vit D3, with your levels being a bit low, i would aim for 5000iu per day.
Here in Aus, Doctors are only allowed to recommend 1000iu per day, Nutritionists 3000iu per day.
Based on the various articles/discussions amongst this group, we know that is not enough.
If your doctor asks how much you are having just say 1000iu (not worth the lengthy discussion to justify why you take more)
I was made redundant, and moved interstate at the end of January, in that 3 month period my Vit D3 level halved, even though i was taking 2000iu-5000iu per day. I have increased to 6000iu per day to boost the level back up again.

Not sure if this is valid.... When I was a child I was iron deficient and the doc told my mom to cook all my meals in a cast iron frypan. My mom also ground calves liver into our ground beef. Considering the effects iron supplements have on the GITract it might be worth considering. Just a thought.
