Now Coffee Is Claimed To Prevent Type 2 Diabetes

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Note that this only applies to caffeinated coffee.
"It looks like there is a dose-response relationship between increasing coffee consumption and a lower risk of diabetes," said lead researcher Dr. Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health.

"Basically, the more coffee, the lower the risk of diabetes," Hu said. "People who drink three to five cups of coffee a day enjoyed a significant reduction in type 2 diabetes risk."

The announcement of this discovery apparently proves that I'm clairvoyant, because I recently increased my dosage to 3 cups most days, and you know that I wouldn't have done that unless I could foresee the future.

So that's where I went wrong. I was always a tea drinker. Lol...... Ok...I was 180 lbs at diagnosis, didn't exercise, and my grandmother and aunt had diabetes too. Great combination for the perfect storm. I did lose 48 lbs in 6mths and got off metformin after 4mths. Maybe it was the metformin that caused the MC??? I did get WD after losing the first 38lbs. And the WD stopped as soon as I stopped the drug. Hmmm that's a thought. Maybe the stress of getting laid-off was the just enough to cause a flare. Oh well... Water under the bridge now. Sorry... Just thinkin out loud. Lol
PS?.. The more caffeine I had the higher my blood sugar. I believe that high caffeine levels can cause you to be insulin resistant?????

I am thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn't have stumbled across my strength.

What are you willing to let go of so you can live the life you know you deserve?

Some researchers claim that metformin helps to suppress colitis, but if you look around a bit, the internet reveals a lot of complaints about metformin causing diarrhea and/or triggering flares for UC patients. Here's an example:
