Lipitor evidently is suspected as the one of the causes of colitis. I was on it for a few months and ended up with mc flare big time. It turns out that I also have several genes that put me at risk for using statins.

Well, my thoughts on the use of a statin to suppress chemically-induced colitis in rats are that it sounds like an interesting experiment (at least it's surely of interest to the poor rats subjected to chemically-induced colitis), but it's of academic interest only, since the overwhelming majority of IBD sufferers do not have chemically-induced colitis (with the exception of those whose colitis was caused by the cleanout prep prior to a colonoscopy, or a sigmoidoscopy, or a pill camera procedure).

Statins are a well-known trigger for MC for many patients, so attempting to use them as a treatment seems rather counterproductive, IMO.

I might be one of those mentioned in the article that was caused by statin.
I discontinued statins a few years back because they caused muscle pain, etc.
My PCP talked me into trying again with a different brand of statin and also taking a full dose aspirin each day instead of the low dose due to high platelet count.
That was about a month before the WD began.
