Question about Grains???

The father of Medicine, Hippocrates, said, “Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.” This discussion contains information found by some members to be helpful for controlling the symptoms of microscopic colitis, by diet alone, or in conjunction with certain medications.

Question about Grains???

Post by MarthaE »

My MRT says no RICE but millet is the least reactive, then buckwheat and wheat is violently RED. Is millet safe to consume daily nutritionally speaking? Just want to find something to eat. My dr told me if i wasn't improving I would need a feeding tube. I really don't want that. Have to leave out bananas rice and cucumbers now. Not real full on bone broth. Seems gluten is very tricky and everywhere. Thanks for hearing me. Hope everyone has had a nice day. m

Millet is about as nutritious as any of the other grains. All grains are low on protein, so your main focus should be on finding safe meat, because protein is necessary for healing. Amaranth is another option. It's almost unknown in North America, but it's a popular grain in parts of South America. Amaranth is generally rated as more nutritious than most other grains, so if you can tolerate it, it might be a good addition to your diet.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
