Enterolab retest

Post by Sheila »

I'm thinking of retesting Enterolab. I'm hoping that I will be able to eat eggs again. Has anyone been retested and been able to add eggs back into the diet? I don't eat eggs plain, however, I do eat eggs that have been baked into bread, cookies, etc.

My anti-gliadin result was a whopping 245, dairy 38, egg 15 and soy 16. I will never eat gluten or soy, will hazard a little dairy occasionally. I've eaten eggs plain just once in the past 2+ years. If the numbers are acceptable for eggs is that indicative of safety or simply reflect that I haven't eaten eggs plain for such a long time?

I don't plan on retesting MRT. Since I am eating a modified paleo diet and eat so few foods, other than meat, it doesn't seem to be worth it.

Thank you.

Hi Sheila,

If you've been avoiding eggs for a year or 2, your EnteroLab test result would probably be negative. Antibodies to egg albumen have a half-life of only about 6 days, so they decay fairly rapidly. That said, if you've been eating eggs in baked goods, it's certainly possible that the test results might be reliable (IOW, they might accurately reflect your status regarding egg-sensitivity).

Thanks, Tex. The test is expensive and I don't want to spend that much money if it is not going to be conclusive. There is always the option to test eating eggs and I may do that. Something to ponder.

I also eat eggs in baked goods but not plain. I plan to re-introduce yolks next, since they should be the non-allergenic part.
