RE: Fires in Texas

Post by annie oakley »

Hello....The fires are about 50 miles from where I am. There are between 60 and 80 homes gone. I will be watching the news tonight and see what's happening. There are small fires all around that area. I feel sorry for the people it has effected. We are so dry here in west Texas...I'm sure that most of Texas is dry. Love Oma

Oma,

Did you happen to hear whether or not the fire people were successful in stopping the fires just outside of Ft.Worth, in Arlington?

When we evacuated there, my best friend up there was sort of frustrated that they didn't even get a drop of rain on their yards as Rita went east of there instead. Seems like it's either feast or famine around here lately, doesn't it?

It's been a little cloudy with more humidity here lately, and should continue to be fairly warm into the new year, so perhaps that will cut down on some of the house fires with the fires turned off.

We have had some pretty terrible fires around here, mostly in apartments, and I've lost count of how many of the victims were Katrina victims who've been living here since the storm. Unfortunately, we've also had lots of additional crime with Katrina evacuees being both victim and perpetrator. No wonder New Orleans is now so safe, we got all their gangstas, and they're back practicing their profession, I'm afraid.

We did have a fire just up the highway from here a few miles in Richmond, but the Brazos River runs between there and here. Still, it makes one aware of the fact that the grass is just as dry on this side as on that side.

Stay safe, Oma.
Keep us up to date on those close fires, ok.

Yours, Luce
