QUESTION ??? NIGHTMARES every night???

Post by barbaranoela »

I hope this doesnt sound silly ( Lou thinks im crazy) but the past 3 nights I have had the worse nightmares possible--matter of fact all my dreaming reaches the nightmare stage--

I am always crying---alone---nobody around me alive---one dog---water---dug up ground all around my house -and I keep hearing myself saying *Wake up Barbara--Wake up Barbara* and when I do I am in such a shaken state---scares me to hell~~~
Other nightmares differ but always scarey~~~~
I cant make heads or tails outta this---Often thought of going to a dream analyst but????

Anyway --was wondering if anybody can relate to this--
Believe it or not I never have happy dreams---

Xcept for one---and this was quiet an Xperience---I had told this to POLLY awhile back----detail for detail---and COLOR!!

POLLY--remember??

THANKS----
Barbara--

So, I hope I sleep peacefully tonight

PS. I was thrilled to buy this SIMPLE YOGA DVD---the instructor is terrific---the music is soothing and the 40 minute work-out is a snap BUT!!!
I cannot do the bending over/lying flat on the floor/etc. due to my positional vertigo issues and after I finished my, Vertigo was so ouuta whack -----Well I have the booklet also---so guess I cant do the BENDING over/flat on the floor thing---so why do YOGA??? DUH!So mad!!
I like Tai-Chi better anyway~~~~

AND I WANNA GO HOME  :???:

Hi Barb

No idea what could be causing your bad dreams. A bit scary. I have silly dreams at times but not really nightmares. Maybe it is some underlying fear that you have that is causing them.

Ok, I'll take a stab at this, since you seem to be serious about wanting an analysis. Bear in mind, though, that dream analysis can be complicated, and there are often multiple ways to interpret a dream. Interpretations can vary, depending on the details of the dream, so I have to base this on what you have told us.

Since I'm not sure that you want an analysis posted in public view, I'll send you a PM with my interpretation. Bear in mind, that this is just my interpretation, and it is not chiseled in stone. I could be all wet, you know.

My dreams are soooooo weird, and always have been, I'm loathe to share them with anyone. My grandma and I were the same. I honestly don't want to KNOW what they could mean.

Barbie - better - :sleep2:

Morning Barbara,

You are DEFINITELY not alone!! I would be very reticent to share mine with anyone but Frank. When I lived with the idiot there was not a night I did not have nightmares - that is when I took the chance and slept. Mine are usually quite scary and it has always been that way. I have just ceased to try and figure them out.

Hope last night was better sleep.

Love, Maggie

Oh Barb,

Given what you've been through in the past 3 years alone, I'm suprised you are just mentioning the last 3 days/nights in particular.

Have you changed any medications this week? Maybe its just holiday hangover...thats the way I feel this week.

Hope you get a more restful sleep tonight.

But I have dreams that clasify as nightmares...usually mine are telling me something I need to do or watch for....usually not serious. I know for sure when my dreams are a warning or preminition. Barb,
I'm sorry you have these scary dreams. I'm sure they are upsetting.
I sometimes have bad dreams but mostly I don't remember my dreams so I don't have them very often. Lately they are more about our bird (BeeBee) getting hurt than anything else. I have had some doozies in my younger days though. I used to have a recurring dream about a rabid dog chasing me when I was quite young. That never really happened but I'd heard the "grownups" talking about a local rabies outbreak.

Here's hoping they will let up for you - at least not come as often.

Hiya Sis,

As Wayne pointed out, dream analysis is tricky. IMHO, dreams are our subconscious mind working on ways of accepting/integrating the real events in our lives. It is healthy to dream for the most part. People who are chronically denied REM sleep (rapid eye movement sleep where dreams occur) actually can become psychotic.

I think it is a good sign that you wake yourself up. It shows that YOU are in control of your destiny - that YOU can remove yourself from a frightening experience. You are not at the mercy of the whims of others - YOU are in control. A good thing.

As you know, some people believe that dreams can be from past life experiences, as we discussed regarding that very interesting dream you told me about. An interesting point of view..........

Try not to worry. Are you relaxing before you go to sleep?

Love,

Polly

Barbie,

I've had nightmares ever since I started taking a very low dose of Effexor.
Some of my friends have said the same thing.

Hi Barb,

I almost always remember my dreams, they are always in color and like watching a movie. I can wake myself up from a bad dream and go back to sleep and start dreaming from the same place again. This happens often.

I have lots of nightmares, being chased, war, someone trying to kill me.

I have some dreams I have dreamed off and on for the last twenty years.

I have dreams of flying, falling out of an airplane, drowning, lots about water.

I often dream about my mom coming back to me, and lots about her being alive, I just can never find her.

When my husband died, I had dreams about him coming back to me, but we always knew he was dead, and had to return. I had these every night, and if I would wake up and go back to sleep, I would pick the dream up where I left off. I did this for ten or more years or more.

I love my dream life, I look foreward to them, even the nightmares. They are like a puzzle of my life, clues to help me understand, and ways to communicate with my family I can't see here anymore.

I took a dream class and the teacher told us..."You can program yourself to wake up at any point in a dream, by saying before you go to sleep, Wake up and your name."

I don't think it is strange that you can do that, I think it is good you can do that.

 Barb
