Haven't had beef or pork since I was 12, haven't had milk in 8 years Was just hoping for a few +1 or may be one thing i had no reactivity towards. Feel allergic to the entocort, have lost tons of hair and am covered with acne, don't want to leave the house. Thanks for hearing me forum. :cry:

Martha,

Do not despair! There are loads of other foods out there for you. I, too, was on the wrong path with the foods I was eating (I ate chicken about 5-6 times per week and it was a 3+ for me, as well as rice, oats, beef (which I never ate) and tuna. It took a while to find the right combinations, but it can be done!!!

You have been reacting for a while by the looks of your numbers above,

Are you sure all gluten is out of your life?

Start very simply...choose a meat (ex: lamb, venison, turkey), and eat it & an over cooked & peeled veggie (like squash) for a few days and see how you react. The less foods you eat the better chance you will be able to detect which ones may be causing a reaction.

Don't take any supplements right now. Your gut needs to heal, and can only do that on a simple diet of non reactive foods. I only take Freeda brand hydrochloric acid, and vitamin D3, but I didn't add those until I had many months to start the healing process. I haven't been able to add a multivitamin yet.

Cook your own food. Don't eat out unless you take your own food with you.

Try not to stress about your situation. Stress makes things worse.

I make nuts butters from pecans, sunflower seeds, & pumpkin seeds. I soak and dehydrate the seeds to render them more digestible. I am not eating any grains while I heal either. The simpler the better. I basically eat a meat & veggies for each meal. I make coconut macaroons & seed butter cookies for a sweet treat. It does satisfy me because I get the fats from the nuts/seeds.

I will have a few bites of banana or some applesauce sometimes, too.

Everyone's body reacts differently, so write in a journal what you eat and what your reactions are, and this will help guide you.

Don't be discouraged....it is a long process, but it can be done!

Thanks Linda! you are very kind. I have been eating cashew butter, but my test said cashew is a plus 2 so i don't know if it's safe to eat. I really just want to quit the entocort but don't want to be back in the hospital. I unfortunately have terrible side effects taking the drug even though I'm down to one a day. Numbness in my hands and feet, achy bones, acne on my face, chest, back along with skin tags and rashes, lots of hair loss, headaches and night sweats and mood swings. Wish it would be ok to just stop by I realize my body is too inflamed. would almost just rather stay home with the diarrhea and pain but don't want to cause more damage to my body.

in the leaky gut web discussion (posted by JLH) i included a link to a brand of supplements that use Rice (no corn no gluten) and are gluten, dairy and soy free!

rice is in your moderates but the amount per tablet would be pretty small, the formulations looked pretty good

Knowledge is power, you know what to avoid. These numbers, it does give an indicator that healing will take a while,

Yes, you should probably change nut butter's .....try pecan or seed butter's.

I cant give you any wisdom regarding Entocort because I couldn't take anything...not even Imodium or pepto! My body rejected everything I put into it! :(

Once you get your food intolerances under control, most of the symptoms listed above should get better.

What do you eat now?

Hi Martha,

Yes, those results are not pleasant to see, but they will be very valuable for helping you to design a safe diet for your recovery. Those results are like buoys in a water channel, that mark navigation hazards that must be avoided. Without them, many ships would run aground, or sustain other damage due to unseen dangers beneath the surface of the water. But as long as they dodge the buoys, they can make the trip through the channel safe and sound.

As you can see, Linda has very similar food test results, and though she has had to work hard to recover her health, she is making very good progress. Another member who comes to mind is Nancy (UkuleleLady). Her test results are also very similar to yours. You can see her test results here, if you wish to compare them with yours. She is doing so much better now too, as you can see by reading her post in the thread at the following link. Her post is number 6, which is currently the last one in the thread.

When I got my test results I felt lost and overwhelmed at first. The excellent advice on here to KISS (keep it simple silly) is the best advice! Simple 1 ingredient foods.

I had similar results. I had stopped eating everything except ground beef even before I got my results and things had already got a lot better. When I got my results I switched to ground lamb and cut out the beef. I slowly added things back in. I am able to eat pork (+1). The other meats I eat are lamb, venison and turkey. I also eat cod but I went very slowly in adding things back. Not all vitamins have corn. Use a site like IHerb to research vitamins. They list all the active and inactive ingredients in the products they carry. Maybe what you need most to do is take a deep breath and slow down the panic. This is doable. Many of us here have done it. I couldn't believe when I found this site that there were other people, many other people, who had symptoms at least as severe as mine. I discovered that I wasn't alone in having to live in the bathroom and that there were things I could do to change that. The key is patience, discipline and scrupulous adherence to the elimination of the foods to which you react. Learning how to minimize stress is also extremely important because the more you react with panic the more you will exacerbate your symptoms. It is understandable to feel trapped and overwhelmed but things can change and you can change them. As Nerdhume say, keep it simple.

Martha,

I do understand your feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. I have been there too! The emotional issues you're experiencing are part of this disease. The brain/gut connection is real, and emotional reactions can be high until you can get your system stabilized.

It all begins with taking out the foods that are stimulating a response, and you've taken the first step testing with Enterolab. As shocking a that results are, they are also real data that will help you make decisions. I remember reading my results and feeling so deflated and confused. But, one step at a time, is all you can do and is the best way to proceed.

You must remove all gluten from your life first and foremost. Start there. Then, work on getting rid of the soy. The dairy & eggs are easier to remove completely from your diet.

Try a different meat, as mentioned above. About half of your calories each day should be protein. This will help heal your gut.

Try not to stress about your circumstances...get your mind off it by doing yoga, reading, watching TV, deep breathing.

You will get better! It just takes time.....in our fast paced world, we want things to happen quickly, but that won't happen with this disease. Slow and steady wins the race for us! :)

Thank you everyone! I'm eating lamb, salmon, turkey, lamb bone broth, spinach puree, butternut squash puree, cashew and hazelnut nut butters and yukon gold mashed potatoes. A serving of applesauce in the am. No gluten, dairy, soy or eggs. I think i need to eliminate the nut butters. Appreciate all the support and advice. m

Martha,

I tested 1+ for potato, and thought I successfully reintroduced it last month, but it seems to make me achy and contributed to joint pain issues, as well as digestive issues, after long term use. Spinach is high is histamines so eat only small amounts. I do better with kale.

I also think you should not be eating white potato right now. Try switching to sweet potato.
