that is fantastic that you are finding good sources/forms, and most of all that it is helping!! (and the trifecta, it is not causing any D)
For me, affordable solutions for wellness is like an unexpected gift. (or similar to the delight of when your favoured toilet paper is on special!!)

Chris & Gabes,
I purchased the Ancient Minerals lotion (not the ultra) and it does not say how much to use, but the ultra it says 1 oz. I am going to try the lotion and have been doing epsom salts foot baths at night, but already know I probably won't be doing that every night. Then was thinking of the mineral water. So, I was wondering if you can get too much magnesium. I wouldn't even know how much of the water to drink in a day. Sorry, so many questions.

I put on my arms and legs. And then wipe any excess across my stomach. I never had skin sensitivity, so I started covering my body immediately. Now I see they recommend starting slowly. Oops:)
I do it most days, but could definitely tell a difference after several months. They say, 3-4 months of intense application. That sounds about right. After that, you could slow down to save money. I haven't, but With MC I'm guessing I'm always low on mag. I certainly haven't felt it's been too much.
The lotion has lasted about 1 month a bottle. Probably 4 teaspoons a day. That is 400 MG. Elemental. Hard to get too much at that rate. But the good news, is at least you are getting more than most MC people would orally.
Mineral waters vary. You are not getting a lot of mag. But I think more importantly, you are getting it in a form, along with other minerals that is found in nature. As you know, one mineral is interdependent on the levels of another for optimal functioning. Minerals in isolation, can have more negative, or certainly less fully positive effects. That is the reasoning behind mineral water. You are getting potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulfar and trace minerals in a very balanced manner, helping them to meet the bodies needs most effectively.
Sounds like you are doing a lot of good things. Now just be patient. It may take months, not weeks to see the results. Wish there was a quicker way!

I just finished the book, the best part was the end with comprehensive info on dosage/sources, including waters/transdermal and expanded info on testing.
I will type it up and post it in the next 2 days.
to correct a deficiency can take 12 weeks (or more), I have been doing high doses for 8-10 weeks.
If there is deficiency, histamine activity, and leaky gut, it will take longer to reduce the inflammation, heal and allow the levels in tissue, bone, cells etc to build up to healthy level

The people at Ancient Minerals must be wondering what caused the sudden increase in orders for magnesium oil and cream. LOL You should get a commission, Gabes.
I found Epsom salts scented with lavender and relaxed in the tub for the prescribed 20 minutes. I had forgotten how nice it is to just relax in a tub of warm water. Why in the world I'm always in such a hurry is mystifying.
The magnesium ultra oil does sting a little when you first put it on. Of course, I didn't read the instructions until after I sprayed it on myself. You are instructed to spray some into your hand and then apply it to your body. After 20 minutes, rinse off.
Before I was diagnosed on 2011, my chiropractor had my hair tested. I was skeptical about the test, did it anyway, and when I saw the results, horrified. I exhibited increasing toxic metal levels, almost no levels were within the norm and all were either too high or too low. A lot of the high levels were astronomically high; Calcium/copper level of 292 when the norm is 18-36, calcium/magnesium level 24.1 when the norm is 5-10, calcium 350 when the norm is 40-80, sodium 98.7 when the norm is 5-25, etc. I don't know what the "experts" think of hair testing, but the test I had done in 2011 was a wake up call. The diagnosis, "trace levels and patterns suggest concern for gastro-intestinal and glucose metabolism, neruomuscular and toxic exposure".
Thanks again, Gabes, for walking us through the book and your experiences.

Interestingly I have been using Epsom salts in tub my whole life. Worked well last fall when I got sick because it helped the MC back ache. I also soaked in Epsom salt tub after I had baby to heal. Worked miracles. When I get a bad swollen hangnail or ingrown toenail I mix warm Epsom with glycerin into a paste and wrap it in poultice over night. Works wonders. Love my tub time with a good book!

HI, after reading this I am more certain now how important Magnesium is. I have been following a site at DrMercola.com and he creates great products that are GF, SF, DF, GMO free you name it and I have been using the newest Mag supp that has come out called Magnesium Threonate, so far it has not disrupted my LC but I have not gone up to the rec daily dose just yet either and it is liquid in a capsule.
This is a bit off topic but my husband had bad joint pain and the usual glucosamine/chondroitin wasn't working, and Dr Mercola came out with a new approach to joint pain with different ingredients and my husband is doing much better now. (it may have egg shell as one of the ingredients so it may be an allergen to some here). My point is there are new allergen free supplements out there and better for those of us here with LC, CC or MC.
Thanks again for bringing light to this supplement.

Hi Erica,
There was a very recent thread where magnesium threonate was discussed. You might find it interesting:
http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20882
Also, back before I discovered that gluten was destroying my gut and causing severe arthritis in my knees especially, I stopped most of my knee pain by taking glucosamine/chondroitin and flax seed oil. (Any farmer or rancher can tell you that if you have a horse with bad joints, flax seed oil will help), Of course after I figured out that gluten was the real culprit, and I cut it out of my diet, that stopped all of the arthritis symptoms, including in my fingers.
For many people, arthritis pain occurs prior to the development of digestive system problems. But changing the diet to eliminate gluten (and in some cases, dairy) will virtually always eliminate the arthritis problems.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks for posting this, Gabes. I have had an annoying twitchy eye for about 10 days. Don't feel like I'm under much stress, so it was a mystery.
But I did cut back on my magnesium lotion about that time because i developed a mysterious itchy rash on my chest and back, some on my limbs. Diagnosed with contact dermatitis, so I was trying to figure out what was causing it. (Turns out it was probably wearing my neoprene wetsuit in a chlorinated pool. I hate to give up the water aerobics because it's so good for my joints and fitness level. Sigh).
I will try adding back the mag. lotion and see if there's a difference. I can't take much more than 200mg. orally w/out getting D...

Just recently my husband said he felt he needed to lose a little weight...well I have chosen to help him by making unique salads for him to take to work and to lay low on the breads and cupboard box items (the carb killers)....he's only been doing this for two weeks now so I will watch to see if his joint irritations seem to lighten up due to less gluten.
Me on the other hand I have not had bread for three weeks (when I stopped the allegra) I thought it was the gluten free working, but I don't know if I have a problem with Gluten yet, since my LC has come back like a vengeance it could be a double edge sword by not having the allegra in my body and still consuming small amounts of gluten in some things.....gonna work on that. I so love to make home made pizza and I haven't figured out how to make anything gluten free that handles well or tastes good.... Living in South Eastern Washington this gluten free thing is annoying, I'm in the heart of wheat country.
