Success with Entocort
I have been on Entocort since Nov. Started on 9 mg. a day for 2 months. Went off and the D came back so was able to find generic at AllDayChemist for a very reasonable price and started up again at 9 mg for a month, down to 6mg a day for a month, then 3 mg a day for a month and now I am taking 3 mg a 4 days a week, next month it will be 3 days a week, then 2 days a week then 1 day a week and then I'll be off. So far I have not had a return of D while reducing my dose. So thankful this medication has helped me so much.

Nancy,
That's good news. When you finally complete the Entocort dose tapering, if you find that the consistency of your BMs deteriorates, try 1 or 2 antihistamines each day. Many members here have found that antihistamines can help to prevent D in that situation, as the body becomes accustomed to doing without the corticosteroid again. Be sure to select an antihistamine that does not contain a lactose ingredient (such as lactose monohydrate).
Thanks for the update, and I hope that your recovery continues to go smoothly.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Nancy, Thanks for posting an update. It is so encouraging. I am still on 9 MG. A day. It's nice to look, Lord willing, at my future - may it be like yours. - Chris

Happy to hear of your success with Entocort. You are tapering down in a correct and cautious manner. I had similar good results with this drug. It is like a miracle drug to me. I only take it now, 1 pill a day, for vacations (twice a year) and it has given me peace of mind to enjoy my vacation. Let's hope the pharmaceutical companies don't stop making it for lack of profit.

So far so good 10 days since I stopped the Uceris cold turkey. Will see my GI tomorrow. I am sooooo thankful I found this group and got my diet under control. I read sometimes on a couple of UC groups. Many people on there don't think diet makes a difference and several have said they will just have surgery rather than try changes to the diet. I just don't understand that way of thinking, but we each have to follow our own path.
