.....eating white bread is 'good' for you!

Post by ldubois7 »

I hope people check the source of these articles before they assume it's scientifically researched, and eat a hunk of white bread! The American Chemical Society is the source of the article, and so many people will believe it because they want to believe it! :(

  The reason why white bread (or any other food that promotes the growth of gut bacteria) promotes the growth of gut bacteria is because we cannot digest all of it (no human digestive system can digest gluten), and so bacteria thrive on the undigested portion in our gut. Undigested food rots in the gut, but proponents of gut bacteria prefer to refer to the process of rotting as "fermentation", because it sounds so much healthier, doncha know.

The more undigested food we have rotting in our gut, the more gut bacteria we will have, and the healthier and happier they will be. But so what? Supporting those little parasites is not my goal. Let 'em eat cake! Oh wait, they do, because cake is also loaded with gluten.

GF cake won't be as popular with gut bacteria, because we can digest more of it.
