Sweating with the busenide?

Post by Grahm »

I may not have spelled that right but I'm on the generic for Entocort. I started on it last Thurs. I have sweated profusely today, is this a side effect? Is there a chance it would only last a short while? This medicine is really starting to help, I hate to have to stop it at this point! I am watching my diet, no Gf, sugar, soy and breads. I should hear from my Enterolab test in a couple of wks and my vit B's soon.

Thanks for any help. Connie

Hi Connie, Interesting. I hadn't thought about until I read your question. I live in South Florida, hot a lot of the time and the A/C in use a good part of the year. I used to keep my A/C at 78 degrees but now keep it at 74 degrees. I didn't make the connection but it is certainly possible the heat sensitivity was caused by budesinide. I've been off the steroid for a while and I'm still warm. Weird. Thinking back, my husband was complaining about being cold because I kept turning the A/C down. Poor guy. He would be freezing at 74.

Hi, Connie

Yes, I think I was sweating much more while taking Entocort but didn't make the connection.
Thank you for pointing it out.

Yes, you are all correct. Sweating (or excessive sweating) is a listed side effect of budesonide. It's listed under the "Less Common" side effects.

Do you think maybe I could cut back to 2 instead of 3 or would that mess everything up at this point? Today will be only my 6th day on it. It's not just a little, I'm sweating a lot
Thanks, Connie

It shouldn't hurt to try. There is never any point in taking a higher dose of a med than is necessary to do the job for which it was prescribed.

9 mg is the dose prescribed for a 300 lb man. Someone half that weight shouldn't need the same dose.

Thanks Tex,

I'm 129# so I think I'll cut it down tomorrow.
