However, contrary to what the article recommends, I doubt that there would be much point in consulting with your doctor for advice on determining a safe dose. My guess is that 99 % of them will recommend a dose way too low, if they follow the guidelines established by the "authority", the Institute of Medicine. And IMO, that's an iatrogenic lapse of good judgement. IOW, I agree with the article referenced below, that:
If you follow the advice of the Institute of Medicine, you’ll increase your long-term risk of disease.
